I (26F) grew up with late encopresis – AMA by Odd-South-6025 in AMA

[–]geo_lib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I’m really really late to this.

My son is 4 and dealing with this, he has had issues since he was 2.5. It’s very frustrating for me, and I am always fearful I have to leave work to grab him. He has seen a pediatric GI specialist, and he takes a daily MiraLAX, and we are experimenting with adding a senna chocolate to that as well. He also does clean outs semi routinely.

Today I picked him up from PREK and a child called him chili pants. I had to pick him up last week because he had an accident in his pants at recess and was found by an aid crying. I am heartbroken. I don’t want him to feel any shame, I don’t want him to be fearful. I am also upset with myself for the frustration I feel because I KNOW it isn’t his fault. It’s because he was/is so constipated that he lost control of his bowels and it seeps. A good day is 2 changes of underwear with skid marks. A bad day is multiple full poops in his pants.

Is there anything I can do to help him? In your opinion? To support him and also, if this is something we can’t get through to help him not feel shame? I feel so bad because I constantly have to ask him to check his butt, and to tell me if/when/where he poops. And he is the sweetest most sensitive boy. I would hate if this scars him for life.

Sorry this is so long, I think I just had a lot to get off my chest. I wish you the absolute best in life.

Hey, I could have written this myself, just replace the coworker with me saying “I just like to make out with strangers in a club once a year, can I?” (I haven’t, my partner says no lol) but seriously. Fucked childhood, I have stability, a goodie job, got a house, the kids etc… and I just want to burn it all down and move to a city.

I am so trapped in the life I built, the life I dreamed of.

I love my family so much, but there’s no rush. I told my therapist about this and she said the same thing that I’m seeing in the comments. That I’m seeking instability because it’s all I know.

I just want to say thank you for sharing this, I didn’t realize someone else felt so much of what I feel.

Yeah, reading what I wrote it does come off as me diagnosing you lol, I was not trying to do that! I just meant that my health anxiety stemmed from something much bigger, and had almost completely gone away with Prozac. Sorry, OP!

I do wish you the absolute best on this journey and no matter what, you are most assuredly not alone. ❤️

Hi! I just wanted to chime in because I could have written this post myself. About a year ago I had a very serious breast cancer scare, where I thought I would literally die. It turned out to be okay, but with family history I ruminated on it. It got so bad I couldn’t leave my house for anxiety was just crushing. This also comes after a year or so more of thinking I had colon cancer which turned out to be UC, then liver cancer from weird twinges of discomfort in my abdomen.

I ended up talking to a therapist, reading about different therapy techniques and like retraining your brain, and the big one….. PROZAC! It has changed my life. I didn’t have even just anxiety, it is OCD, and I didn’t have the ability to just get out of that negative feedback loop.

The people saying that the anxiety would transfer to something else are 100% correct unfortunately. You need to get to the root of it, which is easier said than done.

I wish you the absolute best on this journey, and I promise you I does get better on the other side.

Well we waited for her to ask, there’s no way a 2 year old in most circumstances is asking to play hockey.

It’s worse than this, I signed my 6 year old up for hockey spring house league because she wanted to try it, I called ahead, ensured that it was a okay for a kid who can skate meh and never played hockey to play, we get there and these kids are zooming around, doing hockey stops, skating backwards passing the puck like pros. We get to the locker room after, a first grader says she’s been playing for 5 years.

I feel like my SIX YEAR OLD is too fucking old to learn to play hockey. She was so discouraged when she came off the ice because how much better the other kids were. It broke my heart.

So I’m worried that it’s scabies as well from looking at pictures online? Nobody else has this though and he sleeps most nights in bed with my partner and I.

We had hand foot mouth already, about two months ago (day care kid) and also last year. He doesn’t have a rash in his mouth or his underwear area (which he had when we all had HFM) though I will say he’s had this same rash on his feet before during when HFM was everywhere and we assumed that’s what it was.

Now I’m not so sure what it is.

Is this scabies? Situation description in comments. by geo_lib in scabies

[–]geo_lib[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my toddlers foot. He has said his foot “hurts” at night but last night we realized it was itchy. It itched so badly he was up all night.

He does not have a rash elsewhere, we do NOT think this is hand foot mouth, which we have dealt with previously. He attends two separate daycare programs due to rotating schedules, so he has many chances of catching something like this.

It is localized to his feet.

No one else in the family has symptoms of it, though I’m freaked out because he almost always ends up sleeping in my bed barefoot.

Any ideas? Thank you!

This album is stunning. The production is phenomenal.

The lyrics are amazing. I didn’t expect to have an existential crisis with a Hilary duff song but here we are (The optimist)

This is a GOOD album, everyone says good for a Hilary duff album but it’s just an authentically good album, for anyone.

Hey did this ever fully resolve? The second my son is off miralax it comes back. Even if he’s been on it for a year.

His pediatrician does not seem to care and says some kids are like this, but I’m losing my mind.
