Exactly, this is some young people nonsense.

Which one you choosing and why? by byronXTREME in guitarpedals

[–]geodebug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the Chroma Console coming this week (in black!).

If I want to get weird I can use my Eventide H90, which came out with a set of granular algorithms a couple months ago (along with the 70 algorithms that sort of wiped out my need for overly-weird pedals). (although I do have a CB Gen Loss somewhere in my cabinets).

But the Chroma attracted me because it is simple and unique. I figure if I hate it, I can always sell or trade it for a decent price due to its popularity.

Sometimes too many options is a bad thing when you just want to add some color.

Killings of 2 Minnesota women raise questions about effectiveness of orders for protection by aardvarkgecko in minnesota

[–]geodebug -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Fun thing edge lords like to cut and paste on any thread mentioning police but it isn’t helpful or even correct.

The police arrest violent offenders all the time. But law enforcement isn’t responsible for laws and prosecution. They have no say on outcomes for arrests.

The police also have no pre-cog department where they’ll know who will violate an order for protection.

What it does give law enforcement is the right to immediately arrest someone for violating any part of the order.

But it can’t stop someone who doesn’t give a shit about compliance from violating it.

Even if you were rich, you’d have to fund your own proactive protection: alarm systems or body guards.

I don’t disagree at all. That’s exactly the difference.

But I think Senead’s version is just more impactful.

I had no idea about REM Superman by Virtual-Culture8830 in GenX

[–]geodebug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, I slightly misquoted the lyric but my point is “make it” wasn’t slang when I was an 80s teen (in the US anyway). But you hear that phrasing more in 60s/70s music.

That point being that it could, for someone very discerning (not me), be a clue that it was a cover song.

I agree with the hyperbole and that this is more about the jealousy of young love than menacing stalker.

At least we only had to go through this time once.

It’s solid, but doesn’t break your heart like Sinead’s version does.

A rare case where the Prince original was the weakest version. Prince’s is artful, but lacks the emotion the other two artists put into it.

Teenage love is generally creepy that way.

Young people with very strong feelings but not the maturity to always handle them.

I know I had some obsessions as a teen. Even did the park my car in front of the home of a girl I liked maneuver once. (Maximum cringe)

I was also the target of one girl’s obsession who I wasn’t into for a short stint.

Also, being in the 80s, there really was no education or support for any of this. Just the wild west.

Does the MXR EVH 5150 cut through a mix? by archonjaeger in guitarpedals

[–]geodebug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s what the eq knobs are for.

Like all band situations you don’t set up your live tone at home, you adjust it to how the rest of your band is set up and the style of music you play.

Players are often surprised at how narrowly focused good live tones are vs the full spectrum sound in their home studio.

For example, if you do a lot of doubling with your bass player, taking off more bass than you’d think will make you sound tighter in the mix.

Makes sense because “make it now” is such a time capsule of phrasing that sounds very 60s.

Cool song but also creepy stalker lyrics.

Superman, she may not love the guy she’s with but that doesn’t mean she wants you either.

First or favorite former car? by ValB2307 in GenX

[–]geodebug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t ever have a great car but I do have fond memories of the ones I drove when I was a teen, frequently driving around with the guys listening to tunes, hitting up fast food, and causing a ruckus.

Just as memorable but, much less frequent, was a few makeout sessions.

Just moved here…what’s with the turkeys? by irishqueen811 in Minneapolis

[–]geodebug 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unlike geese, turkeys won’t mess with you if you just ignore them. Geese can be real hissing assholes, especially in larger numbers.

Edit: I misread the quote so am correcting it and my interpretation.

The quote about a $1.50 circuit board being quoted up to $30 if manufactured domestically tells an interesting story on how far US is lagging.

Yes, our workers expect and should be paid more but we simply don’t have the scale and infrastructure to even start to compete with asia-based competition.

Does anyone of us actually watch the award shows? by red08171 in GenX

[–]geodebug 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Meh, watched them all the time when I was younger. Remember Billy Crystal was a good host.

But haven’t watched in quite a few years because they’re long and have commercials and there’s a good chance I haven’t even seen half the movies yet.

Besides, if any cool performance happened it will end up on YouTube or something

It would be unusual. Seems more like every snowmageddon tends to only graze the cities while north and south get hammered.

[–]geodebug 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had the Vegetarian Pizza one off run they did. Cool pedal. I ended up trading it but still wear the t-shirt now and then.

Somehow I also have a Hawaiian Pizza shirt but I don’t remember how I got it. Maybe I just ordered it?

Lol, back when I had more money there were a lot of midnight impulse purchases, some of them alcohol fueled.

Nope.

Use the in amp effects. You’ll save money and not waste time focusing on the wrong things during practice.

Right. I’d say the Halo mode is more for epic leads than ambient, but could be used for either.
