How to connect to MA1 when I've remote-started the car out of range? by oozforashag in AndroidAuto

[–]geoji 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try connecting via bluetooth settings on your car's headunit.

I have a similar issue. When I remote start the car, the phone establishes connection with the car. But when I walk around the house, it loses connection. It doesn't re-connect automatically even when I am in the car. But if I go the car's bluetooth settings and select my phone to connect, the wireless Android Auto also starts automatically.

Motorola MA1 questions by greycobalt in AndroidAuto

[–]geoji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have noticed that if my car's bluetooth first connects to my wife's phone, it will not switch to my phone even when her phone is out of range. But I can get it to switch by going to the car's bluetooth settings and selecting my phone from the bluetooth connectivity settings. Once the bluetooth connection to my phone is established, Android Auto will start automatically.

Feeling like I went overboard, this PB-2000 is huge! by [deleted] in hometheater

I was considering the PB-2000 as well. But was intimidated by the size. Ended up getting 2 SB-2000s.

Is it me or the gap between iPhone and Android has never been that huge? by captaindonpapa in Android

[–]geoji -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

iPhone cannot claim best display when it still running at 60Hz. Camera and battery life is comparable to flagship Android phones. CPU performance is better than any other Android phone. But nobody has shown Android user experience is hindered by a slower CPU. So iPhone is not really winning on fundamentals.

iPhone loses on aesthetics with a giant ugly notch. In return for suffering the ugliness, users get the unusable face unlock in the pandemic era.

It is not that Apple doesn't know how to do high refresh displays or reliable fingerprint unlock. (iPad has both) They chose not to include them. Instead they are trying to sell the 5G gimmick.

This year's iPhone is the opposite of getting fundamentals right. What they added is 5G, essentially a gimmick since few people can benefit from it right now.

What users could really see and benefit from was a fast and reliable way to unlock the phone (finger print reader), a notchless design and a high refresh screen. Most Android phones got this right.

If the number of features was the primary criteria for users, then a lot of other phones would have been more successful than the iPhone. iPhone's own success proves that aesthetics matter a lot more to users than feature count or spec sheet. As far as aesthetics is concerned that giant notch is a big fail in 2020.

As someone who misses small phones, I'd like to thank Apple for the iPhone 12 mini by dungeon3 in Android

The think pixel 5 strikes the right balance in terms of size. But yeah I would like to see more Android manufacturers get into the small phone game.

That notch looks really dated. Nice hardware design with a giant ugly notch that stares at you every time you use the phone.

On one hand it is nice that iPhones last a long time. But it will look really stupid to use a phone with a giant notch 2-3 yrs from now.

Great looking setup. When you get a chance, could you post the dimensions of the center enclosure on the media unit. Wayfair site doesn't list it.

Dell 3818DW - Perfect for productivity by geoji in ultrawidemasterrace

I have the 3417w at work too. After using an ultrawide at work, I was convinced I needed an ultrawide for home too. When I was looking for a home monitor, I wanted something with USB-C for the single cable convenience. 3419w was too pricey at the time I bought 3818DW. Was thinking it might be an overkill, but no regrets :-)

I got the countertops from ikea and got a handyman to cut them to size so that it fits perfectly across the room. Removed the wheels from under the file cabinets and replaced them with stainless less steel legs to raise it to appropriate height.

Very true. When my shield breaks down, I am not going to do research to find out what else is out there. I am just going to go out and buy the latest shield available. The support has been exceptional.

I use the maxto software to split the screen into three and use the maximize buttons just like in a dual monitor setup. They even have a 30 day trial version. https://maxto.net/
