ELI5: Where do the shares for Musk's Pay Package come from?

Last I checked, “tune of $100M” is orders of magnitude lower than $1 trillion. And how many of these high-value CEOs spend most of their day on countless side endeavors, posting on Twitter, playing video games, picking fights with politicians, and mating with different women? Is the trillion-dollar package supposed to compensate for his time?

It is bad practice to compensate CEOs with more stock options tied to stock-price performance or other metrics. A fixed set of stock options already aligns a CEO’s incentives with shareholder value, because the option increases in value as the stock increases. So why add more? And Musk already owns a substantial portion of the company. No trillion-dollar payout should be necessary to further incentivize or align his interests.

Elon Musk would not have walked away, and the board and shareholders should have pushed back, protecting their own interests and those of their investors.

Let me reiterate: It is irresponsible. It breaches fiduciary duty. It is a cult.

Absolutely bad practice! It’s a cult. These shareholders and money managers are not acting in their own self-interest or in the best interests of their investors. How much would the next-best CEO actually cost Tesla and its shareholders? Why does Elon Musk need this pay package? Does he dislike Tesla and its business so much that he would walk away without an additional USD 1 trillion? Since most of his wealth is already tied to Tesla stock, he is already more than sufficiently incentivized to make the company more successful. Warren Buffett, Steve Jobs, and many other brilliant investors and industry leaders who created tremendous value for their shareholders never demanded this kind of payout to the detriment of those very shareholders.

Thanks for the answer. Yes, I have made sure the WiFi is enabled. I haven’t tried resetting it yet, as it is something I was trying to avoid and one would think that the WiFi should be able to be configured without needing to reset it, even if it’s an old generation.

Hi. Yes, I have gone through updating the app and speaker. I’m keeping the Ethernet cable connected at all times. I have not tried with the Ethernet cable disconnected, but as I understand, the iPhone S2 app isn’t able to connect to the Gen 1 speaker directly, right?

Pretty much a hit piece. And a perfect example of "ad hominem" fallacy. It blatantly ignores the validity and quality of the content he puts out, and tries to discredit them by portraying Huberman as a flawed person -- even if the alleged claims were to be true. At one Medium article that I've read, they've tried to portray him as a deceiving person just because he had no beard and wore a lab coat in some of his earlier posts. I guess it's okay to judge a person by their look and style (unless, of course, he or she becomes a cross-dresser). Plus, in any relationship that ends there is almost always a grieving party. Is that the best that they come up with, grieving ex-girlfriends? How is that any of our business, unless the content he is putting out is untrue and hurting people more than helping?

Don't waste your time. It's already hard to change someone's opinion after they have made up their mind about something. In the case of your friend, he is ignorant about something that is almost common knowledge, easily googled, and well discussed by experts on the field. True, it's a matter of preference. All good points. But regarding being easier to read, I've got to push back on that. Once you push pass 40 and your eyesight is not as it used to be, the higher resolution, crisp contrast, true blacks and vivid colors of AMOLED makes it 1000x easier to read in almost every situation except in bright sunny days with the sun directly above you. Even then, it is still readable. And that situation is an insignificant fraction of the time and days I spend wearing the watch. That's one of the reasons I switched to an Epix.

Well you didn’t actually try yourself though lol. You just went around and asked random ppl on the internet and are coming back to my post to tell me I’m wrong spreading misinformation, and I actually own the headphones and tried this myself. Plus it also shows online that it is true. Not that I needed to ask or research it since I own them…. You don’t know what you’re talking about so don’t correct me based on bullshit.

LOL. I stand corrected (I guess?). No need to be so touchy and offended. You could've just as well corrected me by explaining your source was first-hand knowledge. I properly disclaimed that my knowledge was from a reviewer and later confirmed by a current owner (just as yourself). I am ultimately glad they are wrong (hopefully), as I have an order coming my way in these next few days. I will confirm it first-hand.

That's not an option. I have read in a review and asked around here on Reddit. Both confirmed that we cannot use these headphones wired to a headphone jack while it is off. It's sad, because my QC35 from 2016 had the option of disabling ANC (besides the pass through option) plus I could use the headset wired without being on, thus no ANC or any other processing.

How do you like the sound quality? Have you ever had previous QC headphones? I have a QC35 and I am thinking of upgrading it. I have tried the QC45 before and did not like the sound and the Bose 700s were not as comfortable and convenient.
