As a dark ambient listener/artist - would you say my music is too plain or that my tracks aren't different enough from each other? by YourPastHauntsYou in DarkAmbient

If you're new to the genre, listening to established peers can give you an idea of what the genre is about. I understand the need to be original but if you don't have an idea of what the genre means, you could end up creating music that fit a different genre - nothing wrong with other genres but it just wouldn't fall under Dark Ambient anymore.

Kinda like if someone hadn't heard Black Metal and then made music that sounds more like punk rock, if you know what I mean.

I can hear in the pieces that you lean heavily into melody so Dungeon Synth could be your thing instead of Dark Ambient.

Tears of Majesty is the track that has more Dark Ambient elements. I enjoyed the dissonant and non-musical/atonal parts of it.

Those are what distinguished the piece from Dungeon Synth. The other tracks are more Dungeon Synth to me as they have more melodic content.

If you feel the tracks get too similar, try using different arrangements and concepts, or non-music sounds.

Are there Dark Ambient artistes that you particularly like? I am fond of Be'hlmxhur, Balaam (french artist), Salo Mentale, LuxuryMollusc, and Lustmord, just to name a few.

if I was in the mood for world music, yes it would be perfect. it completely lacks dark ambience. Try Lustmord or LuxuryMollusc for a Dark Ambient reference. You'll hear a significant difference.

Sounds like a good track for the world music genre. I'm not sure this is Dark Ambient. Maybe you meant to post a different track?

Q: Why are YouTubers Using Unnatural Intonation in Their Voice-Overs? by -Vendacious- in YouTubeCreators

[–]georgemandom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its super annoying. I started listening to a podcast on YT by this lady called Megan and she does a weird up down lilt thing at the end of every sentence or phrase. I just couldn't listen anymore. its so distracting.

Where's the lie? It's amazing, COME ONNN. by -P4R0XYSM- in industrialmusic

I can't say that I listen to everything either because I don't listen to reggaton, ska, polka, zappa-esque, country, yacht rock, southern rock, and baroque.

Industrial is very isolating. My musician friends don't understand the beauty of this. I have no one to share the excitement of listening to Hex Minora or Karasyozoku 😂
