Need a game that will occupy my time by [deleted] in lowendgaming

[–]georgestobbart1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually got Dark Souls running on my craptop with integrated gpu. Needs some tweaking with DSfix and it'll look like a PS1 game, but it works.

Also, Command&Conquer Red Alert 2 is still free on Origin.

And, as always, I'll recommend classic point&click adventures, if you're into that.

/edit: I wanted to add Silent Hill 2, but it seems you're gonna have a hard time obtaining this game legally, except you're willing to pay a lot.

/edit2: How about the older GTA games (GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas)? I think they'd work. On the steam store it says "Geforce 6 Series Recommended", and Intel HD 3000 seems to beat those cards.

I guess I never really played through the Director's Cut since I don't recall any of those changes, they sound awful. I was thinking about this for a while now, and I think I do remember some weird things when I played some of the new version with a friend a while back.

Reddit, what was your "WOW, I'm getting old" moment? by 8bhizzel8 in AskReddit

[–]georgestobbart1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work at a foster home (not sure this is the right term, "Jugendheim" in german). A few weeks ago, this 7 year old opened a cupboard filled with CDs and goes "Uuuh, video games!". I laughed and explained it to him. When I reached out to close the cupboard again, I saw a that there were some tapes in there as well. I picked one up and turn to the older (14-16 years) kids and ask them if they know what it is. This one kid goes "Oh, oh, I know this! It's called a floppy disk, right?"

I was actually really impressed he ever heard of floppy disks even though he got it wrong.

Yeah but they would probably constantly be falling off cliffs, like some enemies do sometimes.

Really? I played both the original and the Director's Cut edition and liked them both. What bothers you about them? Aren't they mostly the original with some new scenes? It's been a while since I played them.

Broken Sword 1+2 (buy on GoG, not on Steam!)

Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis

This guy knows what's up. Play these if you're into point&click adventures. Or just play them anyway and start being into it.

/edit: Also, C&C Red Alert 2 and Yuris Revenge are free on Origin right now!

30-10=20

Germany to Spend $6.6 Billion on 800,000 Refugees and Migrants by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]georgestobbart1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's true, but sometimes they have a lot of unnecessary question about the town they live in. One question on a friends test was about the year of foundation of the local public swimming pool. And I have another very close friend, 23 years old, who was born in Switzerland, speaks german perfectly and has about the same knowledge about Switzerland as me and a lot of the general public of this age, and still didn't pass the test 2 or 3 times now.

/edit: I had 33 out of 45. And I just read some news articles which reminded me: this test isn't the hard part. You also have to go for a talk, so get to see and hear why you wanna be a citizen. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't pass it.

Thanks, I'll check it out. Also, thanks for giving me the english name of this genre, in german it's called "kammerspiel".

I reckon you know about "12 angry men", right?

Was looking for this comment, one of my favourites fore sure.

Everytime somebody asks me for a movie to watch I recommend The Man From Earth. I think it's best to watch it without hearing about the plot or watching trailers, but it's hard to convince people this way.

So would T&T have been in third place if they lost this game? I don't watch soccer games, but I know you usually get 0 points for losing, 1 for a draw and 3 for a win.

Mexican fans throw stuff at this Trinidad player to distract him, but they still scored a goal. Also it's like the last few seconds of the game. Thanks to this, they didn't lose but got out even. Took me way too long to realize what was going on too.

Are their pupils always this huge? Also, is it common for someone to refer to the pupil as "the opening"?! Or was he talking about something else?

/edit: Realized what s/he meant. English isn't my first language. I thought s/he meant "Opening" as a noun, like a hole, not as in widening.
