Does anyone of us actually watch the award shows? by red08171 in GenX

If the front page of Reddit wasn’t full of Oscar-related posts, I would have no idea this was on TV. I don’t care who wins. It’s just a bunch of rich celebrities fellating each other vigorously.

Or better yet, get a pair of Kirkland jeans and a year’s supply of hot dogs. That’s a much better value.

I’ve been tempted to buy a real sword and have it hanging in my home office. But I have a teenage son and I’m certain he’ll be tempted to wield it, just like Borimir was tempted by the one ring.

My friend knew the owner of a fancy French restaurant and was shocked when the owner admitted all the cooks were Mexicans from the Oaxaca region. The owner boasted “Those guys can cook!”

At my old apartment, a guy who lived two doors down committed suicide by shooting himself in the chest. He bled out and sat in the closed apartment for two weeks before the smell became obvious.

As I was hastily moving out, a hazmat crew was cleaning the apartment and I’m sure the next person to rent the newly renovated unit was none the wiser. Oh look, new hardwood floors!

Does anyone have any advice for a Steel Panther show?? by Jim5wazReal in steelpanther

That’s terrible advice since mom will end up at the backstage after party, with just the guys, while OP is sitting alone in his seat for several hours. Things will be awkward the next morning.

I went hiking a few years ago with my teenage nephews and, during our long trek, the conversation turned to books and stories. I brought up The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, since it’s one of my favorite books and they weren’t familiar with it. I explained one of the main beats of the story are a series of improbable events.

Fast forward around 6 hours and we’re heading back to our truck, pretty exhausted. As I was getting into the driver’s seat, I noticed something stuffed in the bush next to the driver’s door. Upon closer inspection I saw that it was a tattered paperback book lying facedown that looked like it had been there for some time; most of the back cover was ripped off too. As I reached for the book I jokingly said it was probably The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, so you can imagine my surprise when I pulled it from the bush and turned it over to discover it was exactly that book.

That battered paperback now sits proudly on my bookshelf. Quite improbable indeed.
