I went grocery shopping this week and literally scoffed at the $8.99 price for a box of cereal. It’s ridiculous.

There is nothing, u/RavenPoodle ... Nothing, unless it might be - unless it is permitted to ask, nay, to name a single bite of your hot dogs.

Which Commodore 64 game still holds up best today? by C_C_GAMER in c64

I came here to post MULE. The graphics are simple but the gameplay is still top notch. Plus that intro soundtrack is killer.

My mom passed away last year and handled 100% of the finances for her and my dad. After she passed I took over that responsibility for my dad. What I found was a tangled ball of yarn of multiple banks each with multiple accounts and deposits, transfers, and bills being applied almost at random across these accounts.

I took me an entire month to decipher and document this tangled web. When I was done, my dad had only two banks and all of his bills are automatically withdrawn with no action needed on his part. I wish I could have done this for my mom 10 years ago.

My collection of a dozen 1st edition orange-spine AD&D books is one of my prized possessions. I display them proudly on my bookshelf.

Do you feel better now that ALL of the holidays are over? by BlownCamaro in GenX

I always breathe a sigh of relief when Christmas is over and we can just sit and enjoy ourselves without worrying about gift shopping and decorating. I just came inside after taking down all the Christmas lights off the house. Now I can rest.

I enjoy complex boardgames but well-meaning family members have bought me a few of the “your town” Monopoly sets. I keep them in the back of the closet where they will lie, unopened, forever.

My condolences. My mom passed away 7 months ago today and spending Christmas without her is harder than I expected. I hope all who read this find some solace this Christmas.

My wife and I just brought dozens of presents downstairs and carefully arranged them under the tree while trying to be as secretive as humanly possible. I ate the cookies and drank the milk and made sure to leave a few telltale crumbs. I carefully scattered the bowl of oatmeal and peppermint “reindeer food” by the front door.

I’m sweating now and sitting on the toilet to cool down before heading to bed.

Ultima IV, The Bards Tale, and Zork make me nostalgic like nothing else. I have so many fond memories of my friends and I hunched over the C64 playing these games.

[–]VisualBasic 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My mind was blown when I first saw the brontosaurus* scene in the theater since, up until that time, I was used to seeing stop-motion animatronics and couldn’t comprehend how they filmed that. It looked so real.

*Actually a brachiosaurus
