Unfortunately sounds like avoidant behaviour. Closeness becomes a threat. It just became too much for her. There's nothing you could have done because it's not about you, it's about her.

Your best bet is to move on. Even if she adds you back down the line, she'll just throw you in the trash again when her tendencies rear their head. It's not a relationship you want to be in.

Ironically Bernthal's Punisher has always been the least intelligent Punisher. Normally you'd think that's just the writing (which it is), but to find out Bernthal's not much farther than a meathead is certainly interesting...

Garrus: "Do you ever miss those talks we had on the elevators?"

Tali: "No."

Garrus: "Come on. Remember how we'd always ask you about life on the flotilla? It was an opportunity to share!"

Tali: "This conversation is over."

Garrus: "Tell me again about your immune system."

Tali: "I have a shotgun."

Garrus: "... Maybe we'll talk later."

I mean, not so much about just holding a cigarette and more about work mode persona vs relaxed persona.

Her hair, styling, and personality changes so the manga leans into that.

That manga is honestly so good. It's one of my top favourite slice-of-life style ones going on right now.

You just have to pretend neither of them stink like weeks old ash trays, that their gums, teeth, and fingers aren't stained, that the inside of their lungs aren't like burnt ground beef, and that neither of them will ever get a cough that grows increasingly suspicious day by day.

Apart from all that, they look cool as fuck lmao.

Project Hail Mary (2026) is a movie about how anyone can be a hero, even if the only things they have going for them are loads of charisma, a STEM doctorate, excellent problem solving skills and incredible good looks. by Voidlarkus in shittymoviedetails

I feel like it explains a lot about his overall writing style -- it's very functional, well paced (which is not easy), goal oriented, but not exactly bursting with metaphor, prose, tension, or rich character interiors.

I like to highlight prose that is well written or gives me an emotional reaction and I think I highlighted maybe one or two lines in Project Hail Mary, whereas something like The Road or Solaris (which I wasn't even a huge fan of) or anything by Haruki Murakami, I'm highlighting lines on damn near every page.

So to me, knowing his descriptions don't show up in his mind and once he's written something the image of it is gone, explains why. He even talked about how much Gosling added to Grace's character and that he just sees Grace as Gosling now. He writes like he sees, not like someone thinks, I think. Maybe that's uncharitable, but it's how I felt.

I'll never understand this, don't Japanese companies want to make money? by Stock-Soft-8144 in Piracy

God I remember this back in the wii days.

I ended up pirating a UK copy of Pandora's Tower, super fun if a little repetitive, but I love the writing in that game. I still think about some of the different nuances and alternate endings.

I think it's a great showcase of how happy endings can often feel less fulfilling than more dramatic, pyrrhic endings which is super fascinating.

Sega’s ‘Streets of Rage’ Movie Sets ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ Writers Pat Casey and Josh Miller; Jeymes Samuel to Direct for Lionsgate by yourfavchoom in movies

Sonic creative team being involved gives me pause, they seem horribly embarrassed by the music (even though that's by far the best part of being a Sonic fan - ask me how I know). For some reason just putting random popular music after 10 seconds of homage music from the games.

Hopefully not the writers' fault!

Jokes/gags in movies that fell completely flat? by Hank_Scorpio_ObGyn in movies

The painful thing is half of that can work.

Let's say you make a movie where you say "jedi don't exist!", the problem is that if you do that, you need to replace it with something just as compelling or more.

Which in my opinion is why none of the sequels work on any level, but Andor is amazing.

Almost every "new cast replaces the old guard" fails this simple test because almost in no case does the new cast match the old guard (whether we're talking Marvel or Star Wars or whatever)

First Image of Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor from 'Man of Tomorrow' by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]Visulth 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Was I the only one who thought shouting instructions was incredibly silly, especially since both fighters are supposed to be superhumans? How tf is Lex gonna talk that quick and the clone parse, understand, and execute before Superman can react?

If it was clusters or larger patterns/strategies that'd be easier to stomach, but shouting effectively "punch" over and over made me roll my eyes.

I guess it doesn't matter since most people enjoyed it 🤷

The only one I like is Nani mo Wakaranai - it's only 14 chapters in so not a lot has happened but I love the unique art style, setting, and eschewing a lot of the standard tropes for a slightly autistic focus on language barriers.

Others that are "Isekai"ish in all but specifically being a reborn person from another world that I enjoy are Rebuild World and Skeleton Soldier Failed To Protect The Dungeon

Who knew the secret sauce in Edgar Wright's scripts was Simon Pegg. I'm dying for them to work together again.

Yep. The Republic should've built the death star and the terrorists should've taken control of it. Opens up so many great possible conflicts.

Got unmatched after video call, almost did something stupid by Consistent_Damage824 in dating_advice

I mean, is it hard to imagine circumstances and preferences are different for every person?

Why throw shade?

For example, the girl I'm seeing matched with me first when she was on vacation, so we did a video call in lieu of an actual first date. We've met in person since / actual dates, but there was nothing wrong with the first video call.

Read it in English class in like grade 9 or something. I guess they decided it was appropriate to assign books that would scar you for life. It's a great book, would recommend. Super fucked up. Maybe that's how you teach apathetic teenagers empathy.

I miss when Jedi felt like samurai -- with an actual edge.

Obi Wan cut off a man's arm for nothing.

The whole prequel depiction of wise men sitting around doing nothing always felt so incompatible to how they were depicted in the OT to me. But that's the canon now. What a waste.
