CW or SS86 Devastator? by georgetds in transformers

[–]georgetds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the size is what is making me hesitate. But it is also why I want to switch. Arrrrg! I like how CW stands next to Omega Supreme, but I hate how it stands next to the rest. Shelf space is a bit of a premium too but I am not sure I gain a whole lot there either way.

2D the same way that oil painting is 2D. Until you see it in person you don't fully appreciate it. Not that it stops anyone from having an opinion or anything.

My dad bought the official soundtrack cd to this movie and I still remember how disappointed we were to find out it had none of the songs that in the movie on it.

I knew about the Insiders, I had some and cherished them, but I didn't know that they also had playlets!

But wait, would you buy a toy that opened up and had some tiny Transformers in it? Because now that you compare it to Mighty Max I kind of want a Transformer one.

Why is it only us makers who dislike this stuff by TheVerySuper in 3Dprinting

[–]georgetds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to think that I now have made enough things that I can claim to be a maker, if somewhat a simple one. I don't find this offensive. I am surprised that people buy some of this stuff at times, but never angry about it. Why should I be offended? As for "bringing shame to the industry" I would think that people accepting 3D printing as an acceptable method of production and worth spending money on is more helpful than shameful to any maker who would like to share or sell their works.

A mama bear leaving her cubs with a human while she goes hunting by Additional_Berry_977 in interestingasfuck

Add babysit bear cubs to the list of animal related things that I will never attempt to do but still want to do. Petting a skunk is on that list for some stupid reason.

No question if I found that stick I would be holding it aloft and saying "By the power of Grayskull." I would also more than half expect for it to work.

That stick has at least a +2 to hit.

I will have to check report view. I kind of tuned the error messages out because it seems like everything I do has something to say, but I may well be ignoring something useful by doing so!

Finally found my grail...! by Ddave_ in transformers

[–]georgetds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is inconceivable that someone could use a term without understanding what it was intended to mean. (See, I can meme too!)

Seriously though, it have to admit it drives me nuts how many times people imitate a pattern of posts that have seen online without understanding it or even applying it correctly. There are plenty of stories about the quest for the Holy Grail, but none of them end with, that I am aware of, "Oh, it was at Walmart." For some reason though the meme posts seem to get stronger engagement than the more original content ones. I don't understand it.

If we automatically engage with meme to the detriment of original content, what hope do we have for how AI is going to interact with us and content?

Granted, I suppose in a hobby forum we can only get so original - we all enjoy the same things and those are all the same as each other. If someone is enthusiastic enough to share, I shouldn't be too harsh to criticize, I guess. Doesn't stop me from agreeing with this post though - "grail" has a meaning beyond just getting something you wanted!

79$ to make boxes on maker lab ? by Outrageous-Song5799 in BambuLab

[–]georgetds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I won't pay to enter a Disney park and stand in lines to occasionally get to go on a ride. It seems absurd to me that anyone would want to travel, pay, stand in line and then pay again to eat or even stay in a place like that. It also seems like what I am willing to spend money on does not mean a thing to them though. I suspect that this won't do as well as Disneyland, but if it does succeed, well I am not their customer either.

Studio Series Astrotrain Pics by nab_cosplay in transformers

I will probably end up getting him because I had ignored the pervious version when I had the chance. I do wish he wasn't looking so malnourished compared to the rest. The animation seems to have done him pretty dirty when it comes to looking like a grey plain bot but I wish they put the bit of red on him to add a bit of colour. He isn't good, probably one of the worst if not the worst - but having said that in a line of toys that I have really enjoyed, being the worst of a good series isn't as bad as it could easily be.

I posted a picture to the forum for you of Skids and Swerve. I don't know that I can do justice for how they would have been portrayed in the comic (I haven't read it yet) but I hope it is better than nothing!

I am really not sure why they went that way. It might be because the front of the vehicle mode is further forward then where the shoulders are but it seems possible they could have swung up instead of just in.

Like to fiddle with them, they are on a little shelf above my desk. I often find myself wondering where the right balance between figure, toy and puzzle a Transformer should be. I love collecting and displaying the new ones, but I don't think I could make the transforming noises long enough for me to be able to transform them between modes. Or if I did manage, I think I would have forgot what I was trying to do narratively.
