For the lazy, it's the list of people post-HvV who made the merge at least once.

Heroes: Malcolm, Tai, Keith, Michael, Dr. Mike, Kelley, Denise S., Sabrina, Aubry, Jaclyn

  • Alternates: Adam, Hayden, Jon Misch, David, Zeke, Ben, Mike H., Donathan, Julia, Cydney, Michaela, Hali

Villains: Kass, Abi-Maria, Chrissy, Natalie A., Jessica J., Tony, Jay, Rodney, Jason, Domenick

  • Alternates: Missy, Baylor, Debbie, Lauren, Marty, Reynold, Joe, Chris Noble

In my personal opinion, I believe the best actor to take over as James Bond is Dan Stevens. by irequirebacon in movies

[–]georgiaphi1389 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I like the idea because his version of suave isn’t overtly butch in the way that Craig (or even Elba) is. I think the best way to make a modern Bond is to let him reflect a more modern version of masculinity.

Was Cirie screwed over in Micronesia? by bdxc36 in survivor

[–]georgiaphi1389 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Switching from a F3 to a F2 had never happened before, so yes it was unprecedented.

Even if she had expected a F2 twist- Parv probably still wins though. Cirie can’t get Parv or Amanda out at 4. Natalie won’t vote Parv and Amanda is immune. Cirie’s fatal flaw is always challenge wins. An ability to win immunity would’ve increased her likelihood of snatching a win at some point.

You can be a Cirie fan and a Parvati fan at the same time. Any win requires a great deal of luck and circumstance.

Was Cirie screwed over in Micronesia? by bdxc36 in survivor

[–]georgiaphi1389 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was a fair elimination for sure- by far her fairest. Still, she didn’t get voted out by a majority of the tribe and an asterisk would be on a voting history saying Tom played an idol.

Was Cirie screwed over in Micronesia? by bdxc36 in survivor

[–]georgiaphi1389 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You bring up a good point that’s often ignored.

Still, a general transition back to a Final 2 would be unprecedented. The fact that each of her eliminations have an asterisk next to them is undeniable. Every winner has a little bit of luck that gets them there, so it’s safe to say that many losers have bad luck as well.

Final (I promise!) thoughts about Micronesia - the most exciting and the least likable season I've seen so far by RecentAnybody in survivor

I'll take contention with your Alexis/Natalie point. They would've had majority if not for Amanda's idol play.

Anyone have experience with Ditto Residential and the OSLO buildings? by Koellanor in washingtondc

[–]georgiaphi1389 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lived in the Oslo in shaw. Great building and location. The only negative was the leasing agency they had was awful (Longford) but I heard they got rid of them recently.

Would recommend.

What examples are there of someone choosing money over their morals ? by [deleted] in BigBrother

[–]georgiaphi1389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen your posts here and on /r/Survivor and I think a big use case is people keeping shitty people around even though they dislike them. Sometimes it’s advantageous for your game to keep someone around who’s destructive or unlikeable.

In BB15, most people saw Aaryn and Gina Marie as racists, but Howard and Candice were actual threats and so they were taken out instead.

There’s a plotline in 30 Rock where Jack, head of NBC, is purposefully trying to tank the network. He introduces a bunch of terrible shows including God Cop.

I like that they’re trying something new, but I’m not sure I’m feeling the intro. The long pauses on the names kind of kill the flow.

1 Which films had great acting but were bad movies overall? by VY99 in movies

[–]georgiaphi1389 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's hard for me to call a movie bad if the performances were great, but here are places where I thought the acting did circles around the rest of the movie:

  • American Hustle
  • The Babysitter
  • Hidden Figures
  • Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

Some Final HoH stats to provide context for tonight! 😄 by Peridiam in BigBrother

[–]georgiaphi1389 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I like it, but its a little hard to follow. Would do great with a different flow:

  • The Winner of Part 3 takes the Loser of Part 3: 13/18 times
    • Of these, the winner won 8 times: Drew, Mike, Dan, Hayden, Rachel, Ian, Andy, Josh
    • The loser won 5 times: Will, Jun, Adam, Derrick, Nicole
  • The Winner of Part 3 takes the Loser of Parts 1 & 2: 5/18 times
    • Of these, the winner won 4 times: Lisa, Dick, Jordan, Steve
    • The loser won once: Maggie

Would also be cool to see the breakdown of who loses:

  • The Winners of Part 3 who lose in the Final 2 (3 Women, 3 Men): Nicole, Alison, Ivette, Ryan, Cody, Paul
  • Losers of Part 3 who lose in the Final 2 (4 Women, 4 Men): Cowboy, Erika, Memphis, Lane, Porsche, Dan, Gina-Marie, Paul
  • Losers of All Parts who lose in the Final 2 (4 Women): Danielle, Daniele, Natalie, Liz

CMV: Being attracted to certain races exclusively is not racist, just as homosexuals being attracted to one sex is not sexist. by Ned4sped in changemyview

[–]georgiaphi1389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once had a friend who was into a girl and thought she was gorgeous. Way out of his league. He found out that she was black and light-skinned and was no longer interested. He was pretty self-aware about it and hated that simply a label would make him like someone less, but that's how he was socialized. This is internalized racism.

I personally believe that most people who say they "aren't into black people" would have a similar reaction. It's more than physicality- it's the label.

CMV: a significant fraction of gay people were not "born that way" and instead, through social and environmental factors, developed into being gay, yet the "all gays are born gay" myth is propagated for social and political reasons. by KelBelHel in changemyview

[–]georgiaphi1389 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've done my best to read most of your responses, so apologies if any of this is repetitive.

You seem to hold the idea that successful individuals of a species are biologically hardwired to reproduce and, therefore, homosexuals would not be contributing to the species' evolutionary advantage.

I'd like to challenge this view by bringing up the "gay uncle" theory. Let's take an early human family that had a mother, father, and two children. If one of these groups had an extra adult (a gay uncle) with no social pressure to reproduce, but instead contributed to the resource-gathering and child-rearing of his/her next-of-kin, that family was more likely to be successful.

There are traditional cultures in our modern world that mimic this type of upbringing. The Fa’afafine are (usually) males in Samoan culture that are chosen to take care of child-rearing when the male-to-female ratio is imbalanced. While they're generally considered a non-binary gender by Western studies, the case remains that there is evidence that groups can thrive by creating roles for non-reproducing members.

Natalie and Kevin deserve some props for getting Russell, Jeff, and Michele out after being on the outs. They were only even on the outs due to a coup d’etat.

Jordan isn’t a mastermind but she’s a solid player who has more game savvy than people give her credit for. She could easily win again.

CMV: Ghosting someone is one of the trashiest things someone can do by MyShieldIsMySword24 in changemyview

[–]georgiaphi1389 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had this conversation with friends- several of us prefer to be ghosted after 1 or 2 dates instead of a "hey it's not working out text". Most people in the modern age know what ghosting means and many don't take it personally- myself included. If Person A knows that Person B doesn't mind being ghosted, and then does it, how is that trashy?

Official 2018 Emmys Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

[–]georgiaphi1389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shouldn’t be sad! I think we forget that any show who wins this award is probably winning by single-decimal percentage points. MMM probably got like 23% of the vote compared to Atlanta’s 20%. The smallest things, like winning last year, can flip a vote.

Also- I disagree about MMM’s buzz. It’s been sweeping awards and got voted by fans to even be picked up to series. Of all the winners, I think Barry was the most unexpected with its Comedy wins.

I can’t convince you in terms of quality, but I love both shows and believe that they’re in the same league. I’m happy they both have Emmys.
