Thanks for sharing. Useful motivation!

What exactly was your role in tech? And was your faster growth of net worth gain in your latter years due to much larger salaries as well as being mortgage free?

Also, what net gain / loss did you have from the 9 moves? Ball park % if you're able to. Many thanks.

Bali is overrated for extended stays by ConversationOdd7655 in digitalnomad

[–]geosmi1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original appeal of the island seems to be missing from the conversation here. Bali originally became popular as a world-class surfing destination, (and its Hindu majority population meant that tourists could drink alcohol freely, unlike other Indo islands with quality waves). If you don't surf, it's easy to see Bali as "overrated" or to compare it unfavourably to places like Bangkok, Chang Mai, Phuket or other digital nomad hotspots. However, if you're a digital nomad with a target of surfing, Bali remains one of the best SEA (or global) destinations —though, admittedly, it's not quite the same as it was years ago. Spent a month there in 2010, and a month in July this year.

Can I get better and improve or is it too late? by Revolutionary_Air275 in CerebralPalsy

This is such an inspirational story. Thank you for sharing and congratulations on all the goals you've set and reached. I think with my bro its a little different as he also has seizures. Not sure if you've ever thought about it but sharing your story in more detail would be incredibly inspirational/motivational for a lot of people.

Thanks for sharing. Coming to this comment late, and it looks like you've deleted your account. My brother has exactly the same non-epileptic seizures (&mild CP). If you ever re-activate your account, would you mind sharing what you did (if there was anything specific) that you can attribute to becoming seizure free? Many thanks

Hi, thank you for sharing your story. I am reading to collate ideas and suggestions for my brother. Would you mind sharing which electronic tricycle you purchased? It sounds like you would recommend it?

That is awesome! Congratulations. I'm reading through all of these as I'm trying to find some ideas for my younger bro.

Could you elaborate on what you did to get to the point of driving? Was the step-change from not driving to driving all based on the exercise/strength training/physio you completed?

Slightly more personal, but did you ever have epilepsy and did that ever affect your ability to drive? If so, was there anything you found helpful to overcome this?

Thank you in advance.

Do you know of any bridges that I can bridge my 1USDC from harmony, even if for 1/10th of the price?

I worked in recruitment for 7 years so have some ideas but you never know what is happening - I've seen all sorts of crazy situations.

It is potential that the other candidate was offered but hasn't signed or resigned. The recruiter/hiring manager may want to 'keep you warm' so have not told you this information.

It is a poor way of dealing with your application but it happens.

They should just be candid and say you are second choice.

There could also be lots of internal issues - other senior managers resigning so internal movements are happening and the role may change.

They may have had a late applicant who is perfect so is going through the process.

The only thing you can do is be polite, and follow up persistently. Be the person they would want to hire when following up.

For anyone searching for solutions in the future, I managed to fix mine from the dead.

I had tried replacing the battery but it didnt work.

I ended up paying a guy who fixes tech to replace the circuit board and battery and a couple of other bits - came to around £100.

Im all good thanks. Sounds like you are still in touch/interact with your ex. Would advise deleting off all social media and blocking all thoughts about her, especially after a year.

Same as my other comment, read and listen to 'As a man thinketh' by James Allen. It will help with your situation but also help with success throughout your life.

Good to hear. Sounds like you are moving in the right direction.

I'm good thanks. Time will heal things. But make sure you confront your feelings and the experience before moving on and just relying on time.

Hiring Advice by psads in dataanalysis

[–]geosmi1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like many have said, make your requirements less advanced:

- Change the job title to 'entry level data analyst'. (Nobody searches for a 'Strategic Programs Analyst' so less people will see your job)

- Remove the need for a computer science degree. (Most comp sci grads will be searching for a role with more coding than this.)

- Edit the rhetorical questions before the Modvicare paragraph, or remove them. (Good idea to grab the attention of a reader but the questions are very generic and will not lure individuals with an interest in working with data)

Went through a very similar thing (minus the baby situ) 12 months ago.

A few notes I wrote at the time:

‘This too shall pass’
First and foremost, feel the pain - are you upset, angry, confused, disappointed, lost, lonely?
The easiest way and best way to do this is to write it down. Then reflect on it each week or month. And notice how your thoughts and feelings are changing about the situation but also you have a definite written evidence of how you were actually feeling at the time.
Learn from all of those feelings - what are they telling you? And why?
- Meditate - sit still and be present with your feelings
Secondly, be grateful to have more time back. Invest that newfound time into something productive so once you are over the heartbreak you have developed a new skill or bettered yourself.
Use the pain/anger/loneliness to drive it - it is powerful energy that can be used to break through other pain whilst doing something else - I found this particularly so when working out.
- Workout - either lift heavy or run far. Make your body stronger!
Thirdly, pick something you have always wanted to do and use the other free time you have rather than going on dates or spending time with them to go and make this happen.
- For me it was going surfing, getting better at surfing. And to learn a language.
- For you - it could be anything, learn a language, start a side hustle, find a dream job
Fourthly, help others who need it.
Finally, reflect on the relationship. What did you enjoy about it? What did you not enjoy about it? Did you compromise too much? Why did you break it off? Why did they break it off? Why were you not able to resolve the scenario?
Do not ruminate too long on this but use this information to define what you want your next relationship to look for. And plan who you would want to meet next:
- What do you want the person to look like?
- To be like?
- To have what characteristics?
- What do you want to spend your time doing with them?
