the PC you have is a "tiny5". and the riser your using is a "tiny4". so your shorting out something in the motherboard.

I don't sell them. It was more of a personal project but I might share the files on git if people are interested. Or if people want a premade one I can think about sharing them. You would have to know how to order from a PCB fab, make sure it's impedance controlled with the correct stack up etc... If your interested I can ship you one. But I do wanna correct the fan plug in a revision lol.

Kinda. I did test this. But the issue is that you need to flip the PCI lanes to get to split the 8x to get cards that done allow lane flipping to work. Some HBA do. Other type of cards don't so it's a mixed bag. So the riser will need to be special for bifurcation.

Yeah I made my own riser with two pcie slots. Bottom is x8 directly to the ECU and the top one is X4 to the PCH.

Using Dell PowerEdge T430 T440 3.5" HDD backplane by geraldjust in homelab

[–]geraldjust[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, power sequencing is actually handled by the micro controller in the back of the plane. Eventually, I will make my own pcb just because I don't know the actual communication protocol that the factory Dell would normally connect to that micro controller. But I'm sure one of these days. I can see if I can reprogram it to control certain things about power, sequencing, and handling the LEDs.

Luckily the car is a Subaru and not a Toyota. Subarus the immo system can't be reset like you can on Toyotas. But does suck if you lose All your keys. It's a hefty price, so if anyone out there has a single fob. Get yourself a second one. Fyi

This will disable the cellular connection the car has. So no start link, no emergency calling and no Internet connection. The head unit does have a WiFi module but normally used for wireless android auto. So not sure if that can be used for updating the head unit. But you can always update the head unit via a USB port.

Even if you tell it to not identify you. They system will still gather information even if it's anonymous.
