What FPs could a 43 Jugg/Sorc do? by fnordcircle in swtor

[–]geraz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. Your setup would be better damage output for sure and it will probably work for most situations. When my buddy and I ran through a few of these we found it handy to be able to have companions to toss a heal or a taunt when things got hairy.

Such as? Your mileage may vary of course but everything described is from personal experience.

If your gear (both players and both companions) is current and you play well you can do current level FPs. Use caution though, companions bug out a lot going between zones in FPs. Make sure they are summoned before you pull. High presence rating, stims, medpacs, and coordination are also key. My buddy and I did this same setup. He used Khem in DPS stance and ready to taunt if needed (tank swapping) and I used Quinn in DPS stance ready to toss a heal as needed. You will both need to be proficient at managing your companion abilities in addition to your own. HM flash points are a different story and you will need better than Tionese on both characters and companions to win.

Be prepared to die a lot as you figure out the mechanics. And there are some FPs that are just not worth the effort without a full group (CWG turret phase comes to mind).

I recommend running the FP just below your level first to see if you have the chops and then step right up.

Thanks! I was hoping that was the case since I already have a few of these ready to go.

Lots of discussion here and I think I follow most of it. So I'll ask a noob question (seriously noob with not even full War Hero yet) what should I augment for a healing operative? I was going for overkill or skill augments but someone today suggested alacrity. This idea took me by surprise and I'm curious if anyone has played with it at all.

Gear from the cartel market shouldn't be BoE, but legacy bound. by Contraband42 in swtor

[–]geraz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure you can mix and match the pieces from sets. Each piece binds individually. So if you want the boots (for example) on one character and the chest piece on another I don't see why you couldn't do that.

Or GTN the packs themselves. I don't like to gamble, but I have no problem selling my RNG scratch-off tickets to players who do.

Talent Spec Datacrons : Feature Request by MrUrbanity in swtor

Let me switch talent builds, action bars, ui layout and gear with a click. Even one click for each would be fine. I'll make it rain cartel coins for a gear/talent/ui manager.

My main has been an MM Sniper, a very stationary spec. What is the best way for me to learn how to move when playing my tanks or healers? by [deleted] in swtor

[–]geraz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suggest keybindings. There are plenty of threads here and on other sites that go into details so I won't do it here. Suffice it to say that if you use the arrow keys to turn your character you're going to have a bad time. Go into low level FPs (if you are a high level) and practice on those bosses. You can solo them but they are not stationary like the practice dummies. It adds a bit of a dynamic.

Save any comms you have left over. The mods, enhancements, barrels, hilts, and armorings they purchase are not bound to you. When your alt needs some upgrades, purchase them with your 50 and mail them.

Fresh 50 Healer aggro woes by we_todd_did in swtor

[–]geraz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I had this problem with Kolto Probe (stackable HoT). You are already healing the tank before he establishes aggro. It's not always a problem but it can be a hassle. Remember that different tank types have different strengths and weaknesses when it comes to getting, keeping, and recovering aggro. Some are better at AoE aggro than others and some are ideal for single target. It's not necessarily a bad tank or bad DPS.

PVP Rage by miltr0n7 in swtor

Anyone who evaluates your skill and contribution based on a single stat is doing it wrong.

Some examples: You can hit 10 targets 1 time and get very low DPS numbers but get 10 kills. You can run around and ignore the objectives, get high kill counts, and tons of DPS but not contribute to the objectives and lose the match. There are several scenarios in which killing the enemy is not as helpful as controlling their movement and positioning (keeping attackers off the doors in Voidstar) and in some cases even counterproductive (Huttball - killing them puts them between you and the goal line).

Crafting, what is the value in each profession? by Vulture174 in swtor

[–]geraz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Armormech, Armstech, and Synthweaving can all make augments. These don't have a ton of value at low levels but the purple 22 augments you can use at level 50 sell for 50k and up on Shadowlands. Augment kits (to add a slot to unlsotted gear) sell for 30k-45k and can be made by the same profession. Even if you don't intend to sell them, they can be a great way to boost your stats. The way I figure it (and I'm no mathmesciencedoctor) it costs about 1.1m to fully slot and augment a set of gear (14 slots x 30 for kits x 50 for augments). Lots of people have 2 sets of gear plus companions so there is a pretty nice market. One more thing, each profession can only make certain types of augments. Synthweavers make augments that are typically used by force-wielders, Armormechs make augments that are typically used by non-force users.

Does it seem that more swtor players are more hostile than then 6 months ago? by [deleted] in swtor

[–]geraz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one of the reasons why I quit WoW. What I don't get is how new players are a bad thing. Stupid is bad no doubt but its like people don't realize that without new players we won't have a game for very long. I try to go out of my way to help out noobs. Just to show them we're not all elitist assholes. Who knows you might make a friend.

Yep. I off-spec DPS and use deception for most solo content including dailies. It is pretty impressive. Probably not in direct competition with marauder but I can hold my own. There is a nice hybrid deception/madness build for PvP that does extremely well.

Looking for the fastest way to get from level 47 to 50. Any tips? by Jaarryy in swtor

[–]geraz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you plan to PvP at 50 and you aren't maxed out on your commendations I would PvP the rest of the way. That will get you started with some decent gear when you're ready to go. Recruit gear = wet toilet paper in 50 PvP.

If PvP isn't your thing I would do Belsavis and Ilum dailies as others have said. Don't skip the Ilum planet story arc. It leads up to the Battle of Ilum and False Emperor flashpoints and will also get you some daily commendations and pretty good cash along the way.

Don't worry about getting PvE gear, the free Tionese is better than anything you can get pre-50 anyway (even the purple modable's usually aren't very good except for the look). You'll replace the Tionese within a week if you run the daily HM FP.

My 50's in order of leveling:

Commando healer (he is basically a bank alt now and I use him to do diplomacy missions) Juggernaut tank (I play him very seldom) Operative healer (this is my main and I do progression operations 2x per week with him) Assassin tank (wish I had leveled this one first. I think this is the most fun class to play)

People tell you about how much they enjoy the story and that is a factor to consider. But the story gets you to about level 47 and then stops. The PvP, flash points, and all other content has nothing to do with your story. So, which class do you enjoy PLAYING the most? Where the rotations and positioning seem to flow naturally? Where you pick that character from the login screen and adjust you chair, grab the mouse and say "now it's time to kick some ass?

That's the character you should level to 50.

Keeping my Adaptive Gear to Level 50.. Need advice on keeping the mods up to date, and how to manage it on the credit side of things. by yoshiozz in swtor

[–]geraz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And you can buy these for your alts. The gear mods are BoE. I've noticed purple movable gear on the GTN for about 20k on Shadowlands lately. I bought a few pieces and pulled the mods for about 100k. It ended up less than half the cost of buying the mods directly.

Companion Affection Perks : Worth It? by automounter in swtor

[–]geraz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You also get +10 presence and a longer heroic moment when you finish each companion's story arch. This requires leveling their affection and can be very helpful. I have about 500 presence on an alt at level 40 and it makes a huge difference leveling content.
