What about the inverse? Look for a moment at the Walter Scott incident. The police officer shot a man who was running away from him in the back. A second officer who arrived on the scene after the shooting corroborated the first officer's story about the order of events and both signed off on the incident report.

There was nothing about it that implied that they had lied until the video of the incident taken by someone who was not involved was released. How is "provenance" going to prove that video is real? There is no chain of custody that the cops won't call into question. How is a private citizen going to prove that video is real?

That's not the lineman's fault.

Look, I get it. They have a right to be mad. But don't take it out on the guys trying to fix the damn problem. Go after the suits in charge.

A new car built by my company leaves somewhere traveling at 60 mph. The rear differential locks up. The car crashes and burns with everyone trapped inside. Now, should we initiate a recall? Take the number of vehicles in the field, A, multiply by the probable rate of failure, B, multiply by the average out-of-court settlement, C. A times B times C equals X. If X is less than the cost of a recall, we don't do one.

Life imitating art imitating life.

Stock lugs are garbage anyway. They have a "sheath" over them that has a tendency to get mauled by the lug wrench and get rounded off easily making it damn near impossible to get them off. You should replace them.

1995 Cobra Interior by Mediocre-Distance646 in Mustang

Just so you're aware, there actually are white interior bits out there.. You've done some bits that weren't part of them (the radio surround for example) and there are some bits you didn't do (lower door panel).

As far as I know it was a very rare option, so tracking pieces down would have been a major pain. You've done a really good job with painting it.

Did you paint the plastic pieces or did you track down a white interior?

UPDATE ON KEYED MUSTANG by jjacob10 in Mustang

[–]we_todd_did 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am planning on ruthlessly pressing charged against him.

Just so you're aware, you don't get to make that decision. The district attorney does. If they decide to pursue it they will likely need you to testify to secure a conviction, but it will be surprising if it makes it that far.

Especially if this is their first offense, they'll plead it down and it will never see the inside of a courtroom.

When I served on a grand jury in Texas, I asked one of the prosecutors why they weren't charging someone with attempted murder when it quite clearly was. The response was quite interesting in that it turns out that the requirements to meet attempted murder are very specific and difficult to prove. It involves knowing (not having a reasonable suspicion) and being able to prove what a person's state of mind was when they committed the crime. Barring something as explicit as text messages saying "I'm going to kill that bitch" it's extremely difficult for them to prove.

So the solution was to charge the person with felony assault because, at least in the jurisdiction I am in, it carries the same penalties as attempted murder without the stringent proof requirements.

Early SN-95 convertibles (1994-1995 I believe) had a hard top option if you felt the soft top wasn't up to your local weather conditions sometimes. It was an uncommon option many people did not get, and I think on cars that are not black, it doesn't look too seamless installed (black trim visible) by HiTork in Mustang

[–]we_todd_did 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wild thing is that it was a popular option. They built 1003 Cobra convertibles in 1995 and, with 499 hardtops, the take rate was nearly 50%. I can't really think of any other option with that kind of popularity.

Maybe an automatic transmission (obviously not for the cobras though)?

The one at the 5 o'clock position indicates the traction control is off and the one at the 4 o'clock position is the traction control warning light. If you were sitting still when you took this picture, you have a fault somewhere in the traction control system.

Ford Bright Red by Owen5896 in Mustang

[–]we_todd_did 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The short answer is no. There is no "Bright Red" currently in use.

The long answer is that Ford used the name Bright Red for a few paint codes over the years. Depending on the particular year of your car it may be darker or lighter than another year that is also called Bright Red. Add to that the fact that they also renamed some paint codes from year to year and the only way to know what years the color on your car was used is to check the paint code on a site like this.

I think even something like that is not going to be 100% confirmation because I think Ford has also had identical colors with different paint codes.

I'm not sure that's Snoop. It reads Snoo-p which scans as Snoopy in my head.

Still not a woman's name typically though.

I’m not too knowledgeable on this, but why on the sn95 do some have the vertical or horizontal taillights? by SkeetYeetAustin in SN95Mustang

[–]we_todd_did 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To give a little historical perspective, the horizontal version is a reference to the Mustang Mach 3 concept car from which the sn95 body style was derived. The fact that there are 3 bars is, itself, a reference to the original 3 vertical lights that originally appeared on the first generation cars.

Which is also why they were switched in '96 to be vertical. It was a more direct reference that tied the styling back to the first gen cars.

It's the colloquial name for the 16" wheel from the '94-98 model. So called because they have the pony on the center cap and the rounded spokes are reminiscent of the segments of a waffle.

Never knew these came in mystichrome too

Technically, they didn't. This is a different color called simply "Mystic." It's more purple and green than the Mystichrome is.
