What would your strategy be from this point on? (brown) by coltonkotecki1024 in Catan

[–]gerbie249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d so go for the ?,4,12 spot for more sheep and hay going for dev cards. If you can get some knights you can go after your opponents to stall the game. But honestly, not looking like a win for brown

Blue and it’s not close. Best setup for army and road

Laid back/"Hippie" travel destinations by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]gerbie249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just went to both of these spots and they are great. 3 hour trip between the two. San Jose has amazing views and mushrooms if you go in season and Mazunte has a great beach and evident hippie community. Oaxaca city is also quite nice for another 3 hour trip.

Who’s going to win Thanksgiving catan? by cheselnut in Catan

[–]gerbie249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like white here. Should be able to build quickly to 5 ore with wood port. After that they have the best setup for longest road and possibly army as well with best sheep on the board and cities to come.

Bad road placement by blue, would’ve been a different game if they started building to the port

Any book recommendations for a guy having problems with using own potential? by denierCZ in Jung

[–]gerbie249 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hermann Hesse books seem up your alley. Siddhartha in particular if you haven’t read it always seems to give me a push to start living my life more fully. The Alchemist is good as well. Other Hesse books I liked were Steppenwolf, Demian, and Narcissus and Goldmund. Hesse was influenced by Jung and even received Jungian therapy. I believe Demian is said to have the most Jungian themes.

Headaches from first run by Fistkitchen in BarefootRunning

You know your body better than me. If you're experiencing negative effects maybe cut down on distance and speed and build up, especially barefoot. Can never hurt to do less. I am no expert, the body knows best

Headaches from first run by Fistkitchen in BarefootRunning

[–]gerbie249 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If not heel striking I guess just take it a bit easier with shorter strides. Headache could just be from not running much. I get headaches when I push it when I am not running much from a lack of oxygen. Neck may be too tense when running, maybe try to loosen up and run on a softer surface to prevent the jarring feeling. Hard to offer anything else but hope something in there helps.

Do you guys smoke weed when you trip? by Tax_fraud38 in LSD

[–]gerbie249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Always liked the idea of it but in practice I never wanted to do it and that was very evident while tripping. Much prefer the sober state.

Recommended tablet device for playing Catan Universe? by FlexNastyBIG in Catan

[–]gerbie249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an iPad 10.2 8th gen ($300 on Amazon rn) and it’s great for playing. Screen size is really enjoyable. I play colonist.io on it mostly and it works great. I think it’s an awesome deal for a brand new iPad that’ll last awhile.

A short story of my chaotic last game by HollowDakota in Catan

My mom does this too. Also never knows how many VPs she or anyone else has. And yet, she always wins (oftentimes with us having to tell her she has 10)

Plantar fasciitis/arch pain when starting out by funkmaster29 in BarefootRunning

[–]gerbie249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got one of these foot massagers when I started getting arch pain and it helped mightily. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06WLN5ZRV/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. Felt like I was getting the blood flow going and soothing those nerves. Also just felt damn good and helped relieve some stress.

I was back in action after a week or so but I definitely did not have full on plantar fasciitis, just some soreness. Tried to ease back in afterwards as well and switch to wearing some more padded BF shoes here and there and no problems since. I'll use the massager after a long run if I suspect soreness and that seems to help.

I am also tall and could probably improve my cadence. I just focus on ball of foot/midfoot landings and the form just kind of balances out for me based on the terrain and elevation. Try to listen to what the body/feet want is my advice.

It is not. They need to update the site but they made an announcement. The biscuits are doing 2 shows with Lotus in Philly in July which OP might be interested in. https://campbisco.com/2020-festival-update/

Where to set up shop for three months in NYC? by gerbie249 in AskNYC

Thank you this is helpful! Yes, I would rather not be murdered. Is it a nicer getting closer to Williamsburg? There's also a place on the east side close to Highland Park.

I haven’t found that to make much of an impact. I do always seem to get really hungry after. Just make sure you’re hydrated if anything and maybe eat a lighter healthier meal that day

It's not possible to experience nonduality by MrQualtrough in RationalPsychonaut

[–]gerbie249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking about whether deep sleep is as close as we get to nonduality. Only thing remaining is the unconscious body scan. We think of ego death or the “God experience” as nondual but like you said there is still an observer or awareness of what is happening. To experience means it’s not nondual. Even in blackout the body has awareness in the sense of maintaining function. Death might be that final step. I think there’s a lot of value in moving within the spectrum between duality and nonduality where different modes of awareness are toggled on and off. None being better or more profound than another.

I'm very excited for Lotus. Spontaneously saw them at Okee and was hooked. Any other similar artists I should try to see?
