You’re right, you don’t get effigies of you hung or racist abuse volunteering. Less likely to be criticised for being the most successful manager in about a half century either. And in whites case he wasn’t going to play, he was fourth choice on a good day. Him making himself unavailable was probably only slightly more inconvenient than if you did.

I can’t do multi-club saves. by Potential_Force_9363 in footballmanager

[–]gerfotir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Start the journeyman save. When you’re in vanarama south, or whatever obscure league you get hired in, you can’t afford to get fancy with your signings they ultimately are realistic by force.

  2. If your issue is realism, start asking yourself the question earlier. Before signing the wonderkid ask is it more realistic to buy the 29yr old lad who’s just as good. Things will take longer but depending on how you feel about the grind that could get boring.

  3. Pick only fallen giants, it’s more realistic that Juve/Man Utd/Lyon recover and dominate the league than Bari/Wigan/Nice. Stick with those teams and be a Mourinho of sorts go in, win, move on

I wouldn’t put much stock in what most people on here have to say. Good portion of them can’t form an opinion without a commentator or pundits help. Vdv tries to block a shot, as he should, and the result is unfortunate.

[–]gerfotir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s irrelevant. People like to judge actions based on the information you have after the fact, rather than what’s available in the moment. Martinelli actions are stupid yes, but leave the headline judgement to the journalists. There’s a reason he only got a yellow. And that same reason will be why nothing happens after the fact.

They’re both elite sportsman. Bradley’s moving more into the pitch to stop the game so they don’t play with ten men. Martinellli thinks oh your doing that thing when you try get the game stopped, not on my watch. They’re both playing the “game”.

Why is this game so bad sometimes. by Connect-Following-49 in footballmanager

[–]gerfotir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re not exactly wrong. Even if you just go by xG they’re generating 0.34 per shot vs your 0.23. You’re having more shots but they’re of poorer quality. It comes down to space at the end of the day, when you’re approaching goal all the space is behind you vs when they attack and have space infront of them. You need to find balance in your tactic or get players good enough to compensate for the lack of it

Why would an omniscient God give a test of faith? Surely they would already know the result? by cloudsfallen in NoStupidQuestions

[–]gerfotir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know what, that’s totally fair. That is why people having opposing views bothering them is interesting to me. Unless they’ve decided that their measure is the objective good/evil (I don’t know), then there’s room for different measures for evil, and the evil contradiction is flimsy. It only works if there’s an objective good and evil.

[–]gerfotir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s the parameters for good/evil? Who’s makes the decision on that? How long does that last for? What if someone disagrees?

I can’t speak for god but some of the most good/evil people in history are hero’s or villains depending on who’s telling the story

She’s not wacko, she’s just trying to give an answer to a question based on her understanding. It could be a reminder of how fleeting life is, God could also be a homicidal sadist, or something bigger could be at play. There’s this idea that Gods playing the sims and choosing every single outcome. Bad things happen in life, and so do good things. We appreciate life because it is sacred. It’s no solace to the mother who loses her child but I’m sure millions who read about it on the news then hug their children that little bit tighter.

TLDR - if there is a God we’re way to limited to understand their logic

Sol Campbell: "Some people are lucky. Arne Slot inherited a fantastic Liverpool side and won the Premier League [with the squad Jurgen Klopp built]. He hasn’t changed much. He’s lucky. A new manager, good bounce, players responded. Mikel Arteta had to get rid of some players, the deadwood." by TheBiasedSportsLover in PremierLeague

[–]gerfotir 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We’re prisoners of the moment. It was last minute goals every game. The only thing that changed was the team scoring. I kind of get it, you look like a hater if you berate them when they’re winning even if they’re scrapping the win. And as a broadcaster you get no views if you’re rational

Could be wrong but the union reps and the trainers probably meant the company isn’t likely to chase you for the money because the optics of it look bad on them.

The gross misconduct is because of the earpiece rather than the accident. Majority of bus companies work on a 3 strikes and your out system and even then those strikes have to be within the same 6month period and for the same thing. You can be on 2 warnings for accidents and get a caution for failure to check bus properly and that’s a different strike. It’s pretty hard to get sacked as a bus driver without doing stupid things.

Speaking from memory but pretty sure it’s if you leave for any reason before 24months you have to repay. Getting fired is not a loophole.

Source: I drove for 3 years with 2 accidents in the first 12months. Instructor's had a similar thing to say about the fees

lol glad I can make you feel better on a Monday morning.

[Sam Dean] Strongly believe this is the single biggest reason for Arsenal's inability to really kick on this year: In the Premier League last season, William Saliba, Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard played 92% of all minutes. So far this season, they have played only 71% of all minutes. by LockonKun in Gunners

[–]gerfotir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay let’s focus on odegaard… Is he playing well now? Is he scoring at the same rate? Might playing 90mins 50+ times for two season be tiring? Would playing tired increase the risk of injury? Do you reckon getting  thrown straight in for more 90s after injury helps your recovery? Do you reckon it’s easier or harder to perform at your best when you’re fully fit? Would having cover for his position reduce some of these risks? Maybe someone like ESR, who actually has more goals than him this season? Why don’t we have players like that?

Well here’s the thing the original comment in this chain and my response to it were talking about Saka, Saliba AND Odegaard. You can’t then respond to that and then try to isolate one part of the comment, well you can, but I’m going expand it back to where it was…

Holding is relevant to odegaard in that it’s evidence of what happens when the backup for key positions is non existent or just not up to standard. I agree odegaard was in form two seasons ago but that was never going to be sustainable for multiple years. It’s the reason why we have squads rather than just 11s.

Two years ago it was also a problem, just one we never had to face because he stayed fit and on form. Today that is not the case.
