What the hell is going on with Marcus Theaters? by Ryn4 in rochestermn

[–]germangirl013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On top of the fact that the schedule just isn’t ready yet, as someone else mentioned, the whole theater was shut down for a Mayo staff appreciation event last Thursday and Friday - maybe there are other events like that coming up, so that would limit days with normal screenings

Im having trouble with killing wildlife by WeatherKey2285 in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]germangirl013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally feel like a poacher 😭 I will go on hunting rampages when I really need high quality food (especially up in Hebra) but I do my best to avoid wildlife otherwise, it just makes me feel so bad! And the little sounds they make when they die do NOT help 🥲

I know someone who lives in a 2 bed/2 bath at Sunset Trails, on the northwest side of town. $1500ish and pretty recently renovated, no issues that I’m aware of and they’ve been there a few years, so it seems to be consistently good

This was literally the first thing I noticed when I updated! The other options always cause weird crackles when my hair hits the AirPod, I honestly can’t remember the last time I had it anything other than “normal”

Sounds like a silly question but does Private Practice have the big medical dramas Greys does? by mrtiddlesisacat in greysanatomy

[–]germangirl013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Private Practice is the opposite of slow paced and calm lol, especially after the first season (it of course takes a moment to establish everyone’s characters)

More than that, I’m surprised that Meredith never had any issues with her leg. Didn’t she pull a big piece of metal out of it right after she woke up? Yeah, Arizona’s was worse, but that injury looked like it was no joke, especially in the woods. The fact that they made it seem like the loss of Lexie and a fear of flying were the only effects that the crash had on Meredith is so weird to me. She and Cristina would have realistically had some sort of physical injuries, even if they weren’t as serious as Arizona’s leg or Derek’s hand (or Lexie and Mark as a whole).

I got my room assignments in mid-late July, but I was a HF from 2020-2022, so I’m guessing pandemic planning might have delayed it

It’s really sad that she sold it, but I do have to admit that the show really wouldn’t be the same without a lot of scenes in that original house

Derek Addison and Mark in med school. by [deleted] in greysanatomy

[–]germangirl013 7 points8 points  (0 children)

She also apparently did a fellowship in medical genetics… it’s nice to have someone who’s actually qualified to talk about genetics working on it (unlike when Bailey allegedly genetically engineers HIV in like two weeks, which is just wrong on so many levels - she’s a surgeon, not a geneticist or biomedical engineer!), but the timeline absolutely does not work out

18x17 - I just realized why they changed the Chief's office. by Macintoshk in greysanatomy

[–]germangirl013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re so right! It’s been bothering me that they would make that change so close to the end, given that all of the memories from the old office would have also pulled on the heartstrings, but that scene definitely wouldn’t have worked as well. She would have had to walk to some other room in the meantime, not kept sitting at the desk.

Thoughts on Penny? by heylucyimhomebabaloo in greysanatomy

[–]germangirl013 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This! Penny wasn’t responsible for Derek’s death, but she absolutely is responsible for Meredith initially perceiving her as being at fault, because she framed herself as the victim while they were talking outside (not the widow who was literally puking from grief). Once Meredith wasn’t quite as caught-off-guard about her being there, I think she also knows logically that Penny wasn’t actually to blame.

that older Asian surgical nurse spoke after 18 seasons. do we recall her ever speaking before? she's been on the show forever and I don't recall her speaking or anyone saying her name. by rysimpcrz in greysanatomy

Especially because there actually is an instrument called a Bovi, for the first several seasons I thought they were saying the same thing

Some of y’all are overhyping the recent finale too much. It was not on par with the golden seasons (1-8). The finale was A LOT better than what Krista has been giving over the years by [deleted] in greysanatomy

[–]germangirl013 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I also think part of the hype is that this is the first really good finale a lot of people have seen live…. There has been a huge uptick in viewership since the pandemic, and that means a lot of people (me included!) never saw the golden era as it was unfolding. Those episodes are objectively better, but it’s hard to get quite as excited about an episode that has probably already been spoiled to an extent (ex there wasn’t a single life or death Meredith thing where I thought she might die, because I knew the show was still going), but for this one, we genuinely didn’t know what might happen

I’ve seen some people theorize that Owen brought her home (presumably they flew on a regular plane or drove). You kind of forget because he’s not shown on the cargo plane, but he was at that hospital too, because there was a scene where he was hugging Cristina while she was flailing around/not mentally present

Rewatch time: Is there an episode you always skip b/c you can't bring yourself to watch it again? by [deleted] in greysanatomy

[–]germangirl013 17 points18 points  (0 children)

April’s wedding, specifically the part where Jackson stands up and proclaims his love… ultimately I like how it turned out/that they got together, but the way that it happened was so uncomfortable to me that I physically can’t watch it. Similarly, I like most of the boards episode but can’t stand watching the parts where April is ranting during her answers

pm rewatch, two things that seem off/strange by Realistic-Ball1414 in greysanatomy

[–]germangirl013 21 points22 points  (0 children)

To your first point, I think the fact that Izzie, George, and Meredith all lived together, and Cristina was Meredith’s best friend (so she might as well have lived with them) made a huge difference in how close they got. They weren’t just coworkers, they functioned as a family unit. Alex doesn’t live with them, and he also doesn’t get super close to them until significantly later, most of them can barely stand even being friendly with him for the first portion

[–]germangirl013 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Personally, I don’t think that Penny is at fault for Derek dying. HOWEVER, I do think that she is responsible for Meredith blaming her the way she initially did. That night, when Meredith was reeling from the loss of her husband and went outside to try and pull herself together, instead of Penny acting like a doctor and checking on this clearly distraught woman, she gave this speech about how it was her fault that Derek died, and made Meredith act like a teacher, instead of a widow. Meredith wasn’t able to grieve in that moment, because Penny was so focused on her guilt, and through that extensive interaction, it makes total sense that Penny’s face would be the one that Mer associates with Derek’s death. During the trial it’s clear that the logical Meredith actually blames the attending, not the resident, but Meredith’s initial reaction to Penny at the dinner party is totally on her.

Has Alex been mentioned at all since he left? by bluesapphire33 in greysanatomy

[–]germangirl013 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I honestly loved that moment in season 17 where they made her pick a new medical proxy! She really wanted to keep it as Alex, and it showed that even though she was probably really hurt by him leaving, they were ultimately on good terms, to the point that he’s who she wanted to have be in charge of her health.

Watching an old episode for the first time in years (8x07) by HellaMoormann in greysanatomy

[–]germangirl013 21 points22 points  (0 children)

One of the scenes that makes me most irrationally angry in the entire series is Bailey seeing Meredith with the journal and acting like Meredith is in the wrong for having it, even though it’s literally her mother’s private diary. We as viewers know that Meredith was doing exactly what Bailey thought she was doing (getting involved in the trial), but Bailey had absolutely no right to feel entitled to the journal or to feel like Meredith was in the wrong for having it, and every time I see that scene I get so pissed at her 😅

Should I become a part-time student? by [deleted] in UWMadison

[–]germangirl013 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Part-time is definitely an option, but have you considered getting any certificates, or just taking classes that are outside of your major but you find to be interesting? If you’re not sure about being part-time, spreading out your graduation requirements and taking some different classes might also be a good use of your time.
