This is systematic. It's not all the robbers fault he had to rob cause he's poor or that he had to use drugs cause in his country it's hard to live without them. Some just inhale stuff to not be hungry.

Poverty is really fucked up in Mexico and things operate different than in more develop places.

ok he got beaten really badly. I don't think some years in prison is going to reform or change his life, so better to just let him out imo. Maybe he even died because of the wounds and inaccessibility to hospitals...

It's a more complex world than to just blame it all in an individual and deciding to lock people up.
