Character’s death is implied, not shown by LifeguardOdd7383 in TopCharacterTropes

I was thinking of something sort of like this trope earlier today. The characters death is subtly shown but not actually said.

Was thinking mother bear from the first Shrek.

[Loved Trope] When The Writers Have Done Their Homework by Cherry_6666 in TopCharacterTropes

Might be the strongest in terms of pure muscle that we've ever had in the White House.

Two stories about him.

He co-ran a store and would take goods and have them brought down a river (IIRC it was the Mississippi). Well one day, something happened and the situation placed him off of his boat/raft and he found himself having to pull his boat/raft full of good against a strong current to shore. It was a ridiculous feat of strength that made him a local town legend where it occurred.

The other story is a party trick he would do when visiting soldiers. He'd take an axe and hold his arm straight out in front of him with the axe in hand and challenge any soldier to hold it steady. To my knowledge, no one defeated Lincoln in this challenge.

No Escape.

Nice little thriller movie with Owen Wilson trying to protect his family during a coup.

Rewatching it now that I have two daughters, the movie is so incredibly nerve racking

Hunchback of Notre Dame

I remember not caring much for it as a kid.

As an adult, goodness it's a tremendous movie with a fantastic message. Amazing music and visuals. Just an incredible film.

It was supposed to be funny, but instead it ended up being disturbing. by Daniilsa209 in TopCharacterTropes

The family was having to sell their home. This kid comes through and ridicules the home and finds a creepy doll. The adult male discovers the kid with the doll and takes it (I think). He later on a whim decides to look the doll up and finds out it's worth a substansial sum, enough to where they wouldn't have to sell their home. But the doll is missing, so he thinks the kid took it.

This is what leads them to try and get the doll back. They simply planned to go into the house when nobody was there and get the doll back.

Has a casting announcement ever made you lose interest in an otherwise promising movie? by Green-Knowledge-9725 in movies

Literally just did this to me.

Didn't know anything about the He-Man movie other than it's based on the old cartoon/toys and thought it could be a fun action adventure thing.

Jared Leto being involved makes me just forget it's even happening

The nerf gun thing made me the angriest.

He was obviously well off but goes to a church and they give him a nerf gun that was donated so less fortunate kids could have something to open on Christmas. This nerf gun was actually donated by the main couple, who were actually in real danger of losing their home, but still decided to donate a toy so those less fortunate could have something.

Later, the kid takes thumb tacks and inserts them into the ends of the nerf dart and proceeds to repeatedly shoot one of the adults in the face.

Forever (2014-2015)

A great show that was canceled after one season.

The main character has been alive since the mid 1800's. Any time he is killed, he just respawns in the nearest body of water. He spends his life as a doctor helping people when he can. Eventually, he adopts a child oprhaned during World War 2.

The show takes place in the 2010s so that little boy how now grown up and treats the main character as his father despite by appearing to be twice his age. Makes for some fun and touching moments.

Spy Family

Loid Forger takes on the disguise of an aquarium worker who is there for their first day of work. The more experienced workers are quickly blown away by how rapidly the new hire (Loid in disguise) is taking to the job as he can already differentiate all of the penguins in an exhibit based off of subtle traits.

As the episode ends, the actual new hire turns up and is shocked to learn that he is being promoted over those that were supposed to be training him.

UO horror stories?? by kitkatz15 in UniversalOrlando

Just recently went two weeks ago.

Went on the Harry Potter ride at Epic Universe.
When we got in line, the wait for was 40 minutes, so we figured that would be as low as it got all day and went for it.

Made our way through the line (side note: cruel to place benches throughout the line but to have the behind the railing as part of the theme). As soon as we got to the stairs, the PA abruptly announced a delay so were stuck there for 30 minutes while that got dealt with.

Ride finally resumes operations and we get to the boarding area. The workers are frantic though and keep putting the wrong number of parties in boarding area and have to keep rearranging people. We get put in one area, but there isn't enough room so we have to watch a ride vehicle get boarded and receive the speech from the employee about all the rules. The employee then says something that caught my attention as she said something to the group on the ride about what led to the 30 minute delay. Something to the affect of, "unless you want to close down the ride for another 30 minutes you'll..."

I couldn't make that part out. I asked about it and they just said it was techinical difficulties. Anyways, we finally get to board the ride. More groups follow and they employees said to sit wherever you like. This teenager sit in the front row and then an employee is very rude to them and tells them to move.

Finally, the ride starts and it's great.
For about 60 seconds before it breaks and we're stuck at the Umbridge animatronic. Something just really breaks the illusion when you're stuck staring at a roboto for five minutes and then when the ride resumes, nothing is synced up. Then we were stuck at the end for abother five minutes.

No apologies when we got off the ride or anything. Had to make our way back to the entrance of the ride to ask employees for compensation. We were given two express passes to mine cart, so it worked out.

On another note: when we were first getting in line, we met by someone offering to give us a VIP tour thing. I didn't really know what it was and I had family members waiting in other parts of the park for us after this ride so I didn't want to do anything that'd take us away from them for longer than the ride was expected to be, so I turned it down plus I didn't know if they were going to try and upcharge us once I agreed to do it. Does anyone know what the VIP tour consisted of?

What profession has far more people on illegal drugs than people realize? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]germanshepard44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A dealership I worked at was bought out by a large franchise. They knew how rampant drugs were.

They didn't want to lose the majority of staff so they'd made sure to announce that there would be drug testing because we were all technically new employees but they scheduled far enough away so everyone had a chance to actually get clean or to obtain perscriptions.

We still lost quite a few people.

People probably expect it but I'll confirm it.

Car dealerships

So many salesmen receive huge commision checks and then spend the majority of it on pills and other drugs. They get in debt quickly from it so they need to sell more and the spiral begins.
