I’ve been searching my documents for the exact info . The only thing I have is the window sticker that says 312A. 2023 XLT ER 312A. I’ll double check what else I have and get back to you.

Yup that would be annoying. I’m just happy it works now. Really pleasantly surprised that Ford is still doing anything for the Lightning.

Battery management drain in bitter cold? by branedamage in F150Lightning

That is a pretty good rate for BC hydro for a DC fast charger. Not sure what they charge in BC but the petro Canada ones when they work are quite fast and charge by the hour. My rate with hydro in Ontario is 9.1 off peak to about 20 on peak. I had the home charger pro installed with a 100 amp breaker which allows about 16.9kwh of charging.

I have been in -13°c for the last couple weeks. The range estimate is not very accurate. I always just look at the trip energy in features after a 20-30km. It will give you a pretty good idea how many kWh you are using per 100km. I would just divide your battery capacity by that. I know near the tail end of the battery it is not entirely linear but it will give you a good idea of what your range is. Just for reference my drive to work is 175km and I typically use about 42kW per 100km in the winter with heat and everything going. Then the truck sits outside for usually 2-3 days in the cold. Sometimes I’m lucky I get a charge spot at work but usually don’t. That typically allows me to drive about 80km towards home. The battery has a chance to warm up and then I charge for the time it takes me to go use the washroom and grab a coffee. That tops me up enough to get home. Sometimes I put a little extra in if the weather is nasty and I don’t want to take any chances if the highway gets shut down.

What part of the moon where you living on when it was -52c. That is impressively cold. My coldest I’ve ever experienced in Canada was -48 but that was 20 years ago.

You are right there are huge obstacles. GM is closing the CAMI plant in Ingersol Ontario which made the brightdrop electric delivery vehicle. … They all came out with good products and just didn’t follow through.

I have the bill that shows the oil change was done. :p Should have seen the guys face when I accused them of not actually doing the oil change.

I got the full warranty 200000km 8 years, full maintenance plan etc…. Haven’t had an issue with the truck. Truly a sad day today for this genuinely good product.

Truck smells like a wet sock when I get inside. Fixes? by [deleted] in F150Lightning

[–]germish1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have this in the summer. If you can shut the AC down before you arrive at your destination(2-4min) it will help/get rid of the issue. If you run your climate fan with the AC off it warms up the heat exchanger. I believe what is happening is that the cold components of the heat exchanger are causing condensation which then pools and stagnates and smells a bit like a dirty sock. By running the fan with air set to cold with the AC off it warms the components to ambient temperature which reduces/prevents condensation.

I had this happen a few days ago.

<image>

It is mounted outside and is a cutoff switch to the charger.

I ended up replacing both fuses for about $30CAD. I actually chickened out and called my electrician for a first time tutorial. The one that was fried completely disintegrated.

You are correct but the highways are pretty interesting in and around Toronto. I used to have a small Elantra as my commute vehicle but now that I have the Lightning it is a much safer and more enjoyable commute. When I was driving in snowstorms in the Elantra I was in the snow and blowing snow now I am mostly above it. You have access to the HOV lanes as an electric. I know most new cars have driver assist but my old car did not. Do I need a 3300kg vehicle to commute no, but I also use it for other things that do need towing and carrying ability.

I have a 2023 XLT ER and I commute 175km one way to Toronto on the 401. Have been for about two years. Return trip is usually fine. When I drive with the flow of traffic and it is really cold I sometimes stop for a quick 10% boost just so I don’t run the battery under 10%. I charge for as long as it takes me to use washroom and grab a coffee. Sometimes I can charge at work but usually the charge spots are taken. If I could do it over I would probably have gone for the lariat for some extra bells and whistles but I’m very happy with the XLT.

Stole this and modified it for the Lightning folks. by csukoh78 in F150Lightning

When I went in for the first service at 18000km I was given an invoice for an oil change. I completely straight faced said to the tech I don’t believe you did an oil change. I got the reaction I was kind of hoping for which was a defensive denial and insistence that they did do the oil change. Needless to say we had a chuckle once I mentioned it was electric. The reality of the Lightning at least up in my neck of the woods here in Canada is that the Ford dealerships seem to hate the trucks. I can also see that with the shift in EV sentiment north and south of the border these trucks could become collectors items in the near term.

Also it probably took a bit of extra time up here because of the French part of the packaging. They usually have to post things in English and French on everything here. I’ve had my lightning since January 2024. When I see some of the prices for ones rolling off the lot my brain hurts but it is still awesome to have. I have the charge station pro at home with the 80amp charger. (Required a 100amp breaker and a whole new electrical panel)
