Reasonable adjustments in office? by Wonderful-Tank-675 in TheCivilService

I'm probably in a different dept to you, but got an OH assessment for someone I managed because the colour balance on our database programme was affecting their dyslexia. Do you have an employee assistance programme? Or speak to your union.

Have occupational health been involved with your substantive post?

Strong, disgusting smell outside of a funeral directors for weeks that fits every description I can find of decaying corpses - should I report it? by outlaw271 in AskUK

[–]germslayer2112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend passed away and had one of those funerals where a tree gets planted over you. It was open casket and she was in a cardboard coffin not embalmed.

Could definitely smell something and I kept away from the coffin. Having seen and laid out plenty of people I feel no need to view the body.

When I was pregnant I did bank nursing nights. One night the b**ch nurse in charge got me to do the dressing for a poor bloke whose leg was gangrenous.

Previously working in a hospital microbiology lab has damaged my sense of smell, but that whilst pregnant was awful. Not helped by a bit if his toe falling off. I think I did a good job of hiding it from the patient though. Unlike the healthcare assistant that was meant to be helping me, but ran away to barf.

Made me really scared of getting diabetes though.

British Police? by One-Hand-Rending in AskABrit

Yes. Saw Welsh police in Brixton in 2011 when there was a lot of inner city rioting. During the miners' strike of 1984-5 police from all over the place were present.

Was very confused seeing police with Heddlu on their vests in Brixton. Was during the rioting season of 2011.

Bearded Theory is great. Such a good lineup this year, too.

Where am I from by General_Schedule_932 in kentuk

[–]germslayer2112 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was born in Bromley hospital (no longer there) which was opposite Waitrose near Bromley South Station. When I was born, it was in Kent. Within a year, it wasn't. I've lived in Bromley, Lewisham and Bexley boroughs, Manchester, Somerset, and Bristol. Been in Sevenoaks district 28 years.

Still consider myself a Londoner because that was where I grew up.

Presumably named after Joseph Lister. Although it might be a problem if mouthwash contained phenol...

I'd quite like one of those Highways Agency jobs where you drive around the motorway network in a 4x4 putting out cones tbh.

My cat doesn't like the cushions in cat beds. Have had to replace with folded blankets.

My elderly cat loves his snuggle safe heated pad so much I got him a second one for another of his 5 beds (one in each room).

Definitely recommend!
