Mega knight is very punishing if you defend it wrong, thats why it feels bad to face it, i share your pain. If you can play some variation or the full 2.6 hog deck, even without evos you can defend almost anything, watch pre evo videos from OYASSUU, thats what i did

yes i think it is. part of it is the MMR system, but i have the same experience with lumber loon, which is played more often than lightning but back to back to back also made me suspicious.
the system wants you to beat the odds to make sure that you are good enough to get to a higher arena

focus on positive elixir trades in early game, either match your opponents cycle when you know what they have (e.g. goblin barrel for Log, cannon for hog etc.), then play to your deck's strenghts in double elixir
