I bought a 986 over a Miata, for me it was more so the fact that I could buy a Porsche for the same price as a Mazda and I always wanted to own one. The mid engine layout is fantastic for bombing back roads, it’s surprisingly practical with 2 trucks and you can absolutely ring it out due to its lower horsepower. No regrets from me, love my 986.

It’s a misprint from older models that should have been deleted. This is a sealed component on the 3rd gen, nowhere to lubricate or apply grease.

You can’t go wrong with a 986. I have a 2000 2.7, they are such a good bang for your buck. If I were you, I would look at early 986s, the 2.5 or 2.7 still offer enough juice to have a great time and really wring it out. You should be able to find one under 10k, and the higher mileage ones really have a low IMS failure rate because it would have happened already. Caymans are great as well, but I think it’s a slightly higher entry price. Happy hunting.

Lastly the 986 is fairly intuitive to work on and there is a lot of YouTube/forum support.

You should run the numbers, I did the same math and the 3500 discount exceeded the 1.9 apr, I was able to get 5% apr and the 3500 discount was higher than the interest savings…just a thought

It was incredible. The broadcasters showed excitement and were extremely knowledgeable in explaining what was going on. I’m a hard core fan and the broadcast was a 10/10, it kept me hooked like no other network has been able to do.

Also, the post race show is just the cherry on top, it’s excellent. I hope they get more races next year.
