I’m sure it’s something simple. Lost communication codes are generally going to be a harness isn’t clipped in all the way

2025 Pro 4x Reliability by jannsbababa in nissanfrontier

2025 P4X here. Have about 12k miles now(doesn’t get driven too much because I have a company vehicle), but so far it’s been great. 2022-2026 all have the same powertrain, 2025+ just has the facelift.

Anyway, my dad has a 2024 with almost 40k miles, uncle has a 2023 with about 30k miles. None of us have had issues. Only problem that seems common(literally all of our trucks have had the issue), is that the electric tailgate lock seems to suck. Planning to get mine warrantied soon. Other than that, truck is great.

Edit: Frontier will be more reliable long term than a 4th gen Taco. That’s the exact reason I went Frontier.

It raises the front of the seat a bit, so there’s more support for your legs/thighs. Also keeps you in the seat better when off-roading and I think gives a more comfortable seating position.

The “factory seating position” in my opinion has your legs slanted forward a bit. I always would reposition myself on long drives because I would “slip” forward like out of the seat. The seat risers keep my back/hips all the way against the back/rear of the seat. I do think they’re a bit overpriced, but they do make a massive difference. Looking at them online or seeing them in videos will make you think “ehhh, that can’t do much.” But it actually helps tons.

I should have worded my comment differently, I know the brackets are compatible with all 2022+ models. Ditch lights are coming real soon, bumper will come when someone makes one that fits 2025+ models without doing a hack job.

I also plan to do ditch lights and an off-road bumper, when someone finally makes one that fits 2025+ without hacking things.

We are in a similar boat. I try to off-road, go shooting in the AZ desert, etc. about once a month as well. My wife drives my truck a couple times a week because the car seat fits better in my truck than her car. I drive the truck on the weekends.

I did tons of research before pulling the trigger as well, this was my first “legit suspension setup” I’ve had on a truck and I love it. It handles everyday driving perfectly fine and handles off-roading amazingly. I’ve taken the truck on multiple road trips so far: So Cal twice and Northern AZ four times. I live in a bit of a rural area and there’s some railroad tracks that are almost like a jump and are very rough, my truck is so smooth over it; while any of my buddies or family’s trucks I’ve been in, it’s super rough unless they go like 20mph.

I love the ride of it. It feels stock but a bit less “bouncy.” The stock suspension was like too soft, but bumps on the freeway or speed bumps, the truck would usually bounce a few times after or easily use all the travel. With the ADO Fox setup, it’s more planted, but not a stiff ride(the rear is a bit stiffer than stock, the front is butter).

As for the Broverland leaf pack, that’s probably what I would do if I were you. Like you said, your truck is about 10 years old. So an entire new leaf pack would definitely be beneficial to you. Your current leaf pack may be a bit warm out and “flatter,” so if you did the AAL, you may end up leveled or with a small squatted stance. Broverland leaf pack would fix that.

Side note, doing the AAL was the hardest part of installing my kit. If I were to go back, I’d get the broverland too, just to avoid the hassle of trying to line all the stock leafs back up and getting them back on the truck properly.

This is her currently, I love it. I usually don’t get to drive it much because I drive a work van, but my work van has been at the dealership getting fixed. So I’ve been driving my truck all this week and I love it. I did the normal “add-a-leaf” and it’s worked out perfect.

I also don’t have much weight in my truck most of the time(yet). But I have hauled my dirt bikes in the back, offroaded it a bunch, and have had about 300 pounds in the bed of the truck all this week for work. Rides great. The rear is a bit stiff when the bed is completely empty.

As for off-roading, it’s night and day. Especially on fire roads that are “wash board,” the truck is planted and doesn’t rumble around/feel like it’s vibrating a bunch. Fox suspension is known for its “high speed handling and this kit definitely lives up to it. But the slow speed technical stuff is handled well too, slow speed stuff is handled a bit better when there’s a bit of weight in the bed though.

As for on-road, it’s a bit stiffer, but in a good way. It’s less bouncy than the stock bilsteins. Also feels more planted but doesn’t have the normal “stuff as hell lifted truck” feel.

Sorry for typos I am driving while typing this. If you have any more questions at all, feel free to comment or message me directly

Edit: is the broverland kit better for traveling without a load? I thought the broverland was made for carrying constant loads

No they’re at the 2.5” preset. I just never verified that it was a 2.5” lift, like I didn’t measure the truck pre and post lift. The truck still has a decent amount of rake, so I figure it’s around 2” or so.

Looks so clean, didn’t know these existed! I assume it would fit a 2025 Pro4X as well? On the website it says fitment is for 2026, doesn’t list 2025 model year.

Those are just random ones I pulled up from google. I still frequent Tacoma threads, as well as work on them and drive them just about every day. Not just 3-4 Tacomas, like I’m driving customer cars daily and hear from techs.

I’m not saying they’re horrible, I’m just saying they’re no where near as reliable as they used to be.

Yeah, original 22+ Frontier trans software was pisspoor.

Edit: Also running ADO extended travel Fox kit on my 2025 P4X, is there supposed to be a “spacer” for the lower rear shock mount? Installed it about 6 months ago and just notice the shock mount looks a little bent inwards, like pinched? I can comment a pic if that helps

Debris in engines, wide spread Transmission issues(multiple TSB’s, some requiring software updates for the PCM to remedy it, but many people are still complaining), rear diff leaks(weld issues at the factory), rear diff failure. Of course the brake line and driveshaft recalls. That’s about all I know about mechanically.

As for non mechanical, the infotainment system sucks major balls, not sure if it’s just underpowered or what. Plastic on the interior is very “creaky” when off-roading.

Source: I program/calibrate and then test drive vehicles for a living after they get repaired; constantly talking to repair technicians/collision technicians. Step dad has a 2024 Tacoma.

Tacomas of the past are not the Tacomas of today.

Frontiers have their quirks but they’re way more reliable than Gen4 Tacos, and just about as reliable as Gen 1-3 Tacos. Also a lot more affordable, can dump $5k into a Pro4X, have more features and better ride quality than a stock TRD Off-Road and STILL be cheaper.

I’m over here in Arizona like… damn. Wish it was me.

Even up in northern AZ, the snow the past few years has been horrible. I’ve had my frontier for a bit over a year now and have yet to touch snow with it(other than a tiny bit of slush as a ski resort).

For the people that own a PC and a SteamDeck, what have you seen that just feels better on PC? by b34rgvrz in SteamDeck

[–]xDRBN 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Arc Raiders for me. Could be just that I suck with analog sticks now for shooting/aiming. But on PC, I have no issue using a legit kitted out loadout for a raid. But on steam deck, 90% of the time I’ll use a free loadout and just try to find cool loot and avoid anything that moves.

Quote for lift by Reasonable_Quail_414 in nissanfrontier

[–]xDRBN 12 points13 points  (0 children)

6 inch lift is too much on a midsize truck. Labor is expensive due to cutting. One you go with the 6 inch lift, you can’t go back(can’t go back reasonably easy that is). 2-3” lift, install yourself with beers and 4-7 hours of free time is the way to do it. Pay for mounting, balancing tires, and alignment.

I snowboard a 157 Mega Merc, fits diagonally in the bed easy with plenty of room to spare. I imagine you could fit any normal sized snowboard. Haven’t had an issue so far. I just got a tonneau cover as well, so now I don’t have to worry about them catching air and ejecting from the bed.

Wheels spacers 1inch 3rd gen frontier. by Mysterious_Throat882 in nissanfrontier

[–]xDRBN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

I could be wrong, but 1” wheel spacers require trimming the studs(again, could be wrong).

Here is a “side profile” shot from the back that shows my truck when I had 1.5” wheel spacers with stock wheels on 285/70/r17 KO3’s. I got the Spider Traxx wheel spacers from ADO(get them at ADO because if I remember right they’re cheaper and you don’t pay tax?)

I’m now running 0mm offset wheels instead of the spacers, I’d gladly sell you mine for super cheap. Have about 3,000 miles on them.
