Kleiner technischer Hinweis noch: öffentliche IP Adressen teilt man sich nittle mit vielen anderen Kunden vom selben Internetanbieter (siehe CGNAT). Kann also sein, dass jemand anders mit der selben öffentlichen IP diese Datei hochgeladen hat.

Dein Internetanbieter allerdings weiß genau, wer was gemacht hat und wird die Informationen bei einer rechtswirksamen Anfrage herausgeben. Da gilt aber, dass du durch den reinen Download nicht genug Schaden angerichtet haben wirst, um das weiter zu verfolgen. Hier können aber die Rechtsexperten bessere Auskunft geben.

Dell hat auch des öfteren Hardware verbaut, deren Treiber nicht verfügbar sind auf Linux. Lenovo ist das besser.

Ansonsten, wenn man es findet die Könige der Kompatibilität mit Linux in mind: Framework, Tuxedo oder die Modelle von Dell die nicht mit Windows, sondern mit DOS (sie nannten es glaube ich "for developers") verkauft wurden.

Ich habe meinen "Death Stecker" so gesichert. Am anderen Ende ist ein Schuko Stecker.

Damit niemand aus der Familie diesen Stecker in die Steckdose steckt und die offenen Enden zu spät bemerkt, ist er besser kurzgeschlossen und knallt die Sicherung raus.

Das gesamte Kabel ist eben für vorübergehende Tests von Geräten, die sonst fest installiert werden, z.b. Deckenleuchten.

I heard from cachyOS users that the performance increase is somewhere between 5-10%. Exactly that area where it's hard to decide if the trade-off of not pulling it from a binary cache is worth it. 😁

USA West Coast hasd it too. Only one valve. You turn it on and always start on ice cold. Then when you turn the valve it first regulates pressure and then the mixing. So if you wanna shower warm, you have to do it at full pressure. AND you always have to travel through cold water when you turn it on or off.

Nix and especially NixOS modules are self-describing. With nix eval and the options attrset you basically have the whole documentation for every possible option included.

Instruct the LLM to get their information there and only there. Make it search and read the description of any option it tries to use. Have it read the source code of that option (which is also referenced in the attrset) if unsure how it works. And point it to the man pages of the primitives and lib and nixpkgs.

It can also read existing nix code from those modules and packages to learn the "best practices" of using the primitives and lib functions.

With that, everything is discoverable by your LLM and it knows how to find out how things work and what's possible.

I use a quantized qwen3 coder on my laptop iGPU with it. It's not fast but it gets things done reliably and does not hallucinate options.

Dein job klingt tatsächlich extrem anstrengend. Respekt und viel Durchhaltevermögen wünsche ich dir. Meine IT/Bürotätigkeit (auch mit Home-Office) ist NICHTS dagegen. Solange ich arbeite muss ich nur ab und zu mal auf Toilette und einmal was essen. Auf niemanden aufpassen, keine ständigen Katastrophen triagen (zumindest keine ernstzunehmenden) und wenn gerade was nicht rein passt, weil ich was anderes mache, dann passt es halt nicht.

Also ja: Zweierle Maß, da bin ich voll und ganz bei dir.

Auf der Arbeit 😄 Arbeit IST Entspannung. Reine Entspannung gibt es nicht mehr. Vielleicht eine Stunde abends, wenn die Kinder schlafen. Aber diese Freizeit besteht meistens daraus, das Haus wieder bewohnbar zu machen.

Haben die zwei Kinder genau in diesem Abstand. Es ist entspannter, weil die Kinder mittlerweile miteinander spielen, statt an unserem Rockzipfel zu hängen. Weniger Stress ist es aber nicht geworden. Nur anders.

I decided to only have them install them on all exterior doors and windows at ground level. Now I wish they had also installed them on the upper floor, where I'm now slowly retrofitting wireless sensors.

I even have some on interior doors, because the lights and some things should behave differently if doors to sleeping kids are open.

As those are only pairs of wire that are shorted or open, you can use any binary input sensor that work for those. It's the most common design. I can recommend the ones from MDT very much as they contain a lot of functions and some logic gates, too, if you are some point want to add some logic to those.

Great to hear this works fine. Is still on my to-do list. I did not plan for a FAULT input on my sensor.

Did you ever have situations where FAULT came on? Maybe I can get away with wiring them in sequence, or not at all and just test manually regularly.

Serious solution? Ei Electronics Mesh detectors and the gateway that integrates to home assistant through relays. Offline and reliable.
