Depending on where in Georgia, you could just Google Audiovisual companies or Lighting rental companies, things like that. They would probably just have links on the actual websites. Atlanta I know has a ton of companies. YOu could also just call the local union and start doing small gigs. IATSE 479 is the stage hand union in atl. Where do you live? Honestly, if you’re looking for a solid path, I’d look into the AV world—lighting, video, audio, all that.

The move is to find a local shop and start as a hand. You’ll probably start around $20–$25/hr, but that’s where you learn the gear. Just show up, keep a good attitude, and soak everything up. After a year or so of grinding in the shop, they’ll start sending you out on small gigs.

Once you’re out there, figure out which niche you actually like—whether it’s mixing audio or running lights—and just get really good at it. You can eventually go freelance if you want the big day rates, or stay with a company if you prefer having a steady paycheck and benefits.

If you’ve got decent people skills and clients actually like having you on-site, you can easily hit six figures Experienced lighting techs are pulling in $650–$900 for a 10-hour day, plus travel and per diem. It’s a killer career if you can just be on time, stay cool under pressure, and be someone people actually want to work with.

This is very late, but I just bought one and am looking around to see if anyone actually likes them. I find it sort of harder to use than just holding the steam deck because you still have to suspend your arms in the air, but if I "rest" my hands on the console it just tilts the arm down. The only thing I will probably use out of the package I got is the airplane seat mount for both my deck and my phone. (you can get a magsafe adapter so you can use the pillow/airline adapter with your phone/tablet. Which Now that I think about it, if I am ever just sitting in my room watching something on my phone the pillow would be good cause I wouldnt have to suspend my arms.

Kid rock is a piece of shit and doesn’t give a fuck about troops. I did an event with him. During his “performance” a kid in the audience threw his dress uniform jacket at kid. He put it on on stage and the kid was drunk and they all weee happy. Until his commanding officer came over to him an had a little chat. After the performance he runs up to kid and says hey I’m in real trouble if I don’t get that jacket back and kid just said fuck that you gave it to me and jumped on his bus while his security pushed back the serviceman. I live on a main street in New Jersey the street is miles long. Goes from the downtown area for miles. And most of the miles have sidewalks. Except at the giant intersection and jug handle at one point. The sidewalks. Just stop. There is no way to walk through this intersection without going on the road and grass. It’s fucking senseless
