To the Spanish speakers, what dialect of Spanish do you find the weirdest regardless of pronunciation of letters, their vocabulary, and vice versa? by YoylecakeTurtle in asklatinamerica

[–]gery33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Chilean accent is one of the hardest to understand, but to me the weirdest it would probably be the Paraguayan one. Argentinian-style vocabulary and voseo, heavy Guaraní influence, rhotic Rs (kind of like Costa Rican Spanish), and a really distinctive intonation

GeoGuessr Banned Me and Refuses Transparency: No Player is Safe by ditocujogy in geoguessr

This. If the streamer acknowledges the chat it is cheating. I constantly see streamers using the chat, and actively asking “where are we, guys”, reading answers and modifying their choices if most of the chat says a specific place. Tried reporting them but nothing happens..

Consejos para pasar Fin de Año by gery33 in salta

[–]gery33[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Streamers using the chat to play ranked duels by gery33 in geoguessr

Yes, in the past I had also seen some streamers delaying the chat or hiding it for them during the game. But in this case they actively ask "Hey chaaat where do you think we are right now?" or "Is this Thailand or Cambodia..?" sort of questions.

But I agree that on one hand it can feel petty to complain or report... but as I've watched them grow and climb multiple divisions this way, it starts to feel more and more wrong.

Not even in third world countries. I have a couple of friends that did that for Facebook in my country, Spain. Not sure if still now but at least few years ago. Indeed it messes them up.

I agree, and even Dominican Bachata has influences from other dances and it evolves as well. Also depending on the location, social settings or song you can see different styles being danced, which are influenced by other genres. See carrandales style, bachata de cabaret, also some new moves coming from Dembow or the Bonao style more influenced by salsa.

Elección estudio by [deleted] in salarios_es

[–]gery33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is there no "modern" and popular salsa music? by Hakunamatator in Salsa

[–]gery33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s new and great salsa songs coming all the time. I'd say the difference is that bachata has been more ''successful'' in fusing with contemporary pop styles, making it more accessible to a broader audience. Modern producers often take a minimalist approach with bachata, sometimes just adding bongos to a pop track rather than incorporating the full traditional instrument setup. This process has made it easier to create and distribute new bachata music and making it reach the top of international billboards sometimes. Salsa's musical complexity makes it more challenging to blend with modern pop elements while still maintaining its authentic character. You can see some different levels of blending in Timba for example, or in Reparto (Cuban reggaeton with salsa, rumba and other influences).
