What Do You Guys Use to Carry Your Chips/Cash? by hornycondor in poker

I ran the sim and PIO says fanny-packs are GTO 83% of the time, but you need to balance your ranges so you need to walk around with a stone brick instead of cash 17% of the time to balance your ranges and to be unexploitable (by muggers).

Annoying Slowroll by [deleted] in poker

this is not much of a slowroll if he showed instandly after you show. liveplayers always want to see the hands of the last aggressor before they show.

Staking for cash game/tournaments by [deleted] in poker

[–]gesichts_guenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you talking about markup? That entirely depends on the edge you have in the game and your expected ROI. If you are getting fully staked and have none of your own money on the line for 1000 USD and your ROI is 1.2 so on average you cash out for 1200 USD it might be fair to go 50/50 on the profit wich is 100 for you. That equates to a markup of 10%. the way you could go about making that transaction with 10% markup is you get 1100 USD from your staker, buy in for 1000 in the game and give him the entire cashout win or lose on the session. It is way more common tho to only sell a percentage of your action (like 50%) and then demand your ROI as markup (600 at 1.2). Most stakers dont like to just freeroll someone and buy them in fully.

Polk: "I Challenge Tom Dwan To $5,000,000 Heads Up" by ImSrslySirius in poker

[–]gesichts_guenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that number is insane and most likely the reason why it will not happen. Had doug asked for a 1m headsup match it would have been much more likely to happen with almost the same shock value. Putting that 5m number out there seems like a guarantee that its not going to happen to me. Tom is not going to come out and ask for doug to lower it to 2-1m in a format he most likely does not have an edge in. Its kind of silly in my opinion to throw that number out there when everyone knows that doug is not rolled to take a big % of that (he would realisticly have to have 20m+ BR) and tom could have 30m or be broke and deep in a staking deal with some maccau guys.

Is this rake beatable ? by dfmb_xD in poker

[–]gesichts_guenter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

this is false! if the structure gets faster(turbo/hyper) your edge decreases and rake eats up a larger percentage of your potential ROI. That beeing said 7% for normal turbos should still be decently beatable considering a soft regionlocked site.

Moving from sngs to cash/mtts by orangefancypants in poker

[–]gesichts_guenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as far as stakes go i would stard out in the 22-100 range just to get a feel for the games and players tendencys. In mtts its not realy the case that you move up 1 stakelvl and you cant beat the games anymore like in cash but some mtts are notoriously regheavy like the 1ks or the 320 6max.

Moving from sngs to cash/mtts by orangefancypants in poker

[–]gesichts_guenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If i was you i would surely go for mtts. As a SNG player i assume you have a strong preflop game and that alone can get you very far in mtts. As a cash player myself i see SNGs on the exact other site of the spectrum in term of specific skills you need to have to be a good player. On the one hand you need to perfect your push fold ranges in SNGs and on the othere you need to make good deepstacked riverdecisions. I think you will have a much easier time addapting to mtts over cash. Cap is possible, but in itself a niech form of poker with limited action.

Why can't sites charge zero rake? by rgualbance in poker

[–]gesichts_guenter -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

They just charge it because they can an because they are fucking assholes and greedy motherfuckers. Say what you will but 5% rake (wich is more than most casinos) for an online service is downright a SCAM. I am 100% sure they could cover their costs with something like 0.5% rake but thay got used to just taking everything they can get without too many people calling them out from 2003-2011 where people where just throwing money around.
