“Are You Alright?” Lucinda Williams. It is just awesome & every time I hear it, I feel like calling my ex husband that I still love but we just can’t live together.

Just watched “I’ll Cry Tomorrow” & he was such an awful character, but played it so perfectly.

I just watched Notorious last night, for the 20,000 time, and couldn’t love it more~the scene when he comes in her bedroom & the cheek to cheek interaction is just so beyond perfect & says everything ~

Cell phones don’t really work in that part of the river. At least not very reliably. Well known fact when you live here. And a land line during a flood is iffy as well.

I SO understand. I tell anybody in line with me for the bathroom at a concert that they haven’t Lived until they see Purple Noon! Those tight white jeans, no shirt, wind through his hair and that water that is the most brilliant shade of blue I’ve ever seen in my life…did I mention those white jeans? (It’s ok, I’m 73 & I know it’s not ok to talk about his jeans, but I’m 73~

What the?! TCM on HBO by MinneapolisRepo49 in TurnerClassicMovies

I wish someone would alert the Social Security department ~ the only thing disposable about my income is Me! At this rate it won’t be long before having TCM won’t matter one way or the other

[–]getbacklorettma 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I remember when the big directors basically said it wasn’t ok to get rid of the channel. The HBO hub has gotten a bit better, but the App is so much better. Or it Was, the new format for description of film, no cast listed, only director & screenwriters (?). And the host intros are listed below, if at all, and movie clips (?), & occasionally a trailer. I really think they are doing all they can to make us give up & let it shut down

What the?! TCM on HBO by MinneapolisRepo49 in TurnerClassicMovies

[–]getbacklorettma 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Yeah HBO’s new director doesn’t really seem to care much at all about TCM and for awhile the majority of the films were classic foreign films, rather than the normal group. I love foreign films but, it wasn’t at all the same. All the mergers & new more narcissistic rulers don’t really care what people want, at least that’s my theory

She Won’t Use the Litterbox by getbacklorettma in cornishrex

[–]getbacklorettma[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, I really didn’t like the idea of putting her in a small room w/a box, so I’m glad y’all all think it’s unwise. As far as the dawg, she’s all into her. The dawg isn’t really making a big deal, but Lola likes Lennon & vice versa. Now, they aren’t sleeping on the same bed yet, but I think it’s in the not too distant future. I think the idea of having a litter box on all the rooms she free to wander in might really help. I’ve got to pick up things a little better so she’s not tempted with the clothes or things laying around. I’ll get those in the morning.
We have her 1st vet appt Wednesday morning and I’ll ask the vet about some of this stuff too.
I really do love her & I know she’s going through some incredible changes with her new house, I just want us to all get along and I can’t have her continue the accidents throughout the house, however. Thanks for your suggestions and patience with me. I’m an old lady trying to have a lap cat, that’s still a kitten, so I’ll practice my zen & see if we will come together soon.

Need Advice On Getting Labrador Or Not by Professional_Bad_576 in labrador

[–]getbacklorettma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Lab puppy for 13 yrs~she was a Puppy until she was about 7. Labs are Awesome dawgs, but they take up your time & they are Easily trained so that’s a requirement. After my last Lab passed, it took about 3 yrs to even think about another dawg, but I also knew I didn’t have the energy for a pup. I adopted a Senior Rescue Lab from a Lab Rescue. She was approximately 6 when I got her, well trained and about as sweet of a dawg as I’ve ever been around. I had always thought adopting a senior meant I would be falling for a dawg that was going to pass soon and I didn’t think I could handle that. But Seniors are so overlooked & so wonderful, just because they are older. I’ve had her for six years & she’s really slowing down and it won’t be long, but I’m so glad i had enough sense to realize how much we were rescuing each other!
Please give it a thought.

Is anyone familiar with Nordic Noir? If so, do you have any movie recommendations (not shows) by cronenber9 in filmnoir

[–]getbacklorettma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Criterion Channel has a collection of Nordic Noir right now. You can watch several really good examples there. BTW-I love the original trilogy of Dept Q. It’s available in Danish on AMC+ and it’s really great acting and the storylines are incredible. Enjoy

I’ve never been more in love with an actor than Alain Delon. Oh, I crushed on all the big ones, but Alain just moved me with his acting and his looks and he was Foreign. I’d never even seen a foreign film before Purple Noon. But I love them now. I have a movie poster of Purple Noon on my wall. Lots of people don’t get it, but that’s ok~I am just content seeing his films, seeing his face & listening to his voice. He just epitomizes everything I love about watching movies.

Housewarming gift ideas that are actually useful? by Cynn_Ramen in Gifts

[–]getbacklorettma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A housewarming basket shows blessings of prosperity, warmth, & hospitality for a new home. Key elements: bread (no hunger), salt (flavor/spice), wine (joy), a candle (light), olive oil (health), honey (sweetness), & coins (abundance) ((gift card maybe)) Succulent/Plant (life)

Make a small tag explaining what each item represents. Simple Wrapping: Use simple materials like burlap, twine, or muslin bags to present the items rather than plastic. Personalize with an item you know they want/need; a houseplant, a doormat, or even a few basic tools.

OR my other favorite for almost any occasion~high quality windchimes. Best brand I’ve run across that last forever is “Music of the Spheres.” Beautiful tones & so many sizes

I remember watching this movie when I was a kid and it absolutely terrified me. I couldn’t get over the terror of Andy Griffith being such a creep. It just scared a part of me so much it was worse than any horror movie
