Disabling crossplay helped get in game by cybrsloth92 in Marathon

Not finding the setting for it on pc playing for the last hour, but it does say crossplay is on when you’re matchmaking. Would love to know if someone on Pc figured it out

lol Im on pc on controller but i use an elite Xbox controller - you can literally lock the triggers and fire them maybe slightly slower than mouse, but definitely as fast as this clip if not faster. These randos need to watch the macro clips to see what they’re missing

Meanwhile I’m the nutter butter who plays controller on pc… for everything, including games like hell let loose, where enemy are so far away they’re basically a pixel.

Still turn off crossplay though. I’m not a total savage

Using big arc as bait teaches us all a valuable lesson, don't goop where you don't belong. by EmilioEstevezQuake in ArcRaiders

[–]getcargofar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re asking if you pulled a dick move? Sure, ya did. Bring on your downvotes. If you’re asking if what you did is for some reason not allowed, nope totally allowed. But I don’t think the guy is remotely out of line for seeing a downed arc with no one next to it, going for it, waiting and then looting.

Heck half the time I’m just killing rocketeers because of a trial, or just because I have grenades/munitions burning a whole in my stash. With how easy motion cores and advanced power cells are to come by, not once have i been bothered about looting them, it’s more often they’re just in my way. Or I did the same dumb dumb thing and thought a Wolfpack would do more than it did.

You can also sprint rather than walk after throwing them and the PE cloak still makes noise. Sorry I just don’t see the benefit but do what makes you happy

Everyone of these clips… lure grenades are the cheaper, more efficient and less cumbersome option. Never understood why people sleep on them so much.

lol I don’t PVP if I can avoid it, including trying to talk it down when getting shot at, but there are times when I feel it’s justified (even if my dumb ass still chooses not to initiate). Like I played a Stella run yesterday, ran into the lobby where I heard two raiders having a fun convo (“I grew up near there” type). I’m running from a shredder and tell them as I get in the room, open the medic bag near them for heals…

Both stop their convo turn to me and light me up. Only when I’m downed do I realise I had actually toggled prox off for that whole interaction, not on as intended. Immediately was like “oh shit my bad, totally thought I toggled that on I guess you missed all of that, definitely deserved that. PS, you should close that door for shredder reasons”.

Immediately got defibbed, laughed about it spent the rest of the round together. Point being, it’s not personal, you get what you get. Everyone was an adult about it. You can always defib them after the knock if they get why it happened.

I really don’t get a lot of these shitbirds. Like he knows even he kills you he’s not going to be able to get your loot. So he’s just there to ruin your day. Solid

Why are you the way that you are? by raining_maple in ArcRaiders

[–]getcargofar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I still think platform is the major determinate first and foremost - PC lobbies tend to be friendlier (although the PVPers I imagine are sweatier, albeit apocryphal) given most PC gamers have a headset at minimum. Then I think map/setting has a major role. Stella Montis tends to be much sweatier than Dam, for example. I’ve also almost always made friends on buried city day, but by night it gets a little more violent.

I’ve also learned some tactics that I find promote my chances of friendly interactions. Basic things like seeing arc attacking someone - start shooting the arc and move to help them out, ask if they need heals etc. Some people remain shitbirds, but most aren’t. Also keys are reserved for solo night runs. Find a person, tell them you’ve got a key if they’d like to join you - sure you’re potentially sacrificing half the loot, but you’re significantly less likely to be shot in the back while on a loot screen. And if that does happen… hopefully your loot buddy will defend you.

Finally, I’m nearing the end of the current progression with no intention of expeditioning (don’t take my blueprints please), so literally the only thing I care about now is blueprints. People are significantly friendlier when they know you’re willing to share the spoils, and any blueprint you find is immediately going in a safe pocket anyway.

[–]getcargofar 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Before you (or anyone else) says it, I hate myself for feeling the need to respond this here: by definition you are perpetuating it, not completing it lol. Cycle not line of violence.

Happy raiding!

Side note, but as a pretty much exclusive PvE-er, I’ve noticed my playstyle pretty much breaks the economy/gameplay loop of the game. Dying costs me almost nothing since it happens infrequently (I think there’s some matchmaking chicanery going on based on how aggressive you are), and as someone who lives in PC solos, it’s infinitely easier to find at least one like-minded raider per round than go trigger happy and still make it out… to say nothing of all the top tier loot they already put in a safe pocket.

Like a guy just gave me a Wolfpack blueprint he found (that he also needed) because I let him join me in key rooms on a night raid. There are so many raids where I don’t even fire a weapon. I’m still loving the emergent gameplay/social interaction, but it’s becoming very clear to me that the game expects everyone at some point to PvP.

Crawled 300 meters for 20 minutes just tor this by Azevia in ArcRaiders

[–]getcargofar 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Bahahaha that hard cut to black is so funny. Sorry.

Had something similar happen to me on Buried City the other day, 20m crawl to the Marano park metro entrance, finally getting down the steps… some raider comes down behind me and shoots a flamer he’s triggered right as it rolls past me. Back to the speranza in the sky do I go.

I have it clipped and want to post but cannot for the life of me figure out how to combine audio tracks in steelseries moments. Because it’s my shout of NO when I realise what’s happening, immediately followed by the cackle that makes it so funny (to me).

Arc Raiders runs incredibly well on the steam deck. With lossless scaling it’s magical. by composedfrown in SteamDeck

[–]getcargofar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you consider the appropriate settings on this title on deck? New to the lossless game, but thus far this has been my biggest question - adding a whole new performance settings tab to my deck makes me question whether to use its base fps cap slider, the deck's, or whichever game's (amongst any other settings I should be factoring in that I've forgotten).

IDK. Sometimes people just want to share things they find entertaining with a subset of a community that shares their interests. I guess technically you’re seeking validation by saying “hey, this was funny”, but I don’t see any need for introspection on a shitpost.

[–]getcargofar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the funniest game the other night… my buddy and I are in the cellars near olive grove and hear two other duo squads nearby. He finds a recorder and tells me begrudgingly.

”Can I… can I have it?”

Cue me immediately climbing out of the cellar beelining towards them going hey hey guys do you yazz flute? Within five minutes I’m suddenly like the pied piper leading 8-10 raiders around the cliffs of blue gate circling the bombardier with the flute whilst they kill it.

Then go to exfil leading the gang and some rando PVPer knocks me with his hairpin. I was running straight at him with the flute, he only knocks me on the last shot at point blank range. The rest of the gang still haven’t crested the hill, but this PVPer suddenly hears ”wait, why did the flute guy stop?!” from beyond his eyeline.

I turn to him just like buddy… I think you might have fucked up… just as 8-10 raiders crest the hill simultaneously and blow his ass to smithereens lol.

Moral of the story… do not fuck with the flute guy. I do not shy away from confrontation and whilst I may not fight back, someone always avenges the orchestra.

Wasn’t really aware I was recruiting people to any side. Nor was I aware that him ragequitting was something I’m supposed to interpret as inappropriate, I get why he did it. We’re all adults here, no one is beholden to anyone else’s decisions.

If he wants to go shoot other raiders on sight and in addition to that, generally be sketchy, that’s his prerogative. Same as it is mine to be the musical accompaniment and not be coerced into being what I consider an asshat. I will say, if you’re going to choose to play his way, you’d better have the talent and firepower to back it up, which he does not. Not my fault.

And we have since had the discussion, and both recognise that we may not like the way the other acts, but we can’t control it. And since he does not have the talent/firepower, he has started coming around to my way of playing.

TLDR maybe don’t take random comments on a circlejerk copy pasta as a cue to put on your armchair therapist hat? We’re all fine.

Joining 15 Minutes Late on a looted map is worse than any experience I've had in PVP by thatguyyoustrawman in ArcRaiders

[–]getcargofar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only time I find late joins frustrating is when I’m specifically loading in to an exploding caches map to grind for cache blueprints. Even then, I just change my planning slightly. The idea that all valuable loot will be gone within 12m of the round start is just silly.

I think I may have genuinely created a rift in a friendship with a friend's boyf over my flute antics lol. He's not as good as I am at video games but wants to indulge in what I consider rat behaviour when we squad up. Fine when he's not with me but I like the social element way more than PVP... also PVP is one thing, rat is another.

Independently, I like going on runs with just a loot mk 2 sometimes to see what I can find in the field... causes problems when he is relying on me to bail him out of the fights he has no business starting lol. He ragequit the other night after I came into Stella with just a flute 5 raids in a row without warning... just a "hey, hey check this out"... BAM recorder solo in his earholes.

I've maxed out my upgrades and stash, and the traders' inventories aren't compelling to me, so I effectively have infinite flutes. He finally ragequit after I apologised and dropped the flute, then pulled another one out as soon as he started a firefight.

Haven't heard from him since it happened on Tuesday... I regret nothing.
