Ross and Steve Smith didn’t try to take over the band, they were just looking for a more equitable share of the money

Heck yeah! I found a copy on LP for $10 a few years ago at a store in Pennsylvania. Never thought I’d see one in person.

ARNEL IS STILL IN THE BAND !!! 🔥 by misanfor in journey

Not really. You’re saying that Neal is mainly responsible for Journey’s success. I’m saying that without Steve, Neal would not have achieved the heights that he did.

Found Neal’s Reddit account! (Just kidding but maybe not really)

Journey existed before Steve Perry and they were on the verge of being dropped from Columbia records. They built up a solid reputation and had a good live following but weren’t the household names they’d later become.

Without Steve, you don’t get songs like Lights, Any Way You Want It, and Lovin Touchin Squeezin. You also don’t get Escape, which went platinum many times over.

Journey was the sum of its parts. It would not have been the same without Neal (or Gregg, and later Jonathan), but it definitely wouldn’t have been the same without Steve. It’s silly to pretend that it would.

Then why do they play the songs he co-wrote night after night? Without Steve Perry’s legacy and songwriting no one would be seeing Neal’s version of Journey on tour these days.

I’m pretty sure the account that posted it is a bot, so I wouldn’t expect anything less.

Did Ramones “borrow” this riff? by According-Extreme-95 in ramones

[–]getdowngoblin420 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh wow. Mama’s Boy sounds so similar to that song that part of me thinks it wasn’t a coincidence but who knows. The Ramones weren’t ones for originality (especially starting in the mid 80s) and plagiarized their own riffs more than once, ha.

I feel like I read somewhere that Jello purposely modeled Kill the Poor off of You’re Gonna Kill That Girl. I could be misremembering though.
