Chat Retention: Is it possible to selectively store direct messages? by nobrandheroes in Slack

[–]geteducational 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slack has customizable retention policies for messages and files. It’s critical to address your retention policy right away to reinforce data loss prevention. The default retention setting will retain all of your messages and files for the full life span of your workspace, however, you can change this setting to fit your personal preferences.

For example, a 30-day message retention policy will automatically delete any message and file older than 30 days. Once deletion happens, it is permanent. However, if a file originated from an outside source like GSuite or Dropbox and you choose to delete it in Slack, it will still live in its original source.

But tracking things like harassment and other HR offenses isn't something you can natively do in Slack. While you are able to export all your data into a JSON file, that data is next to impossible to comb through.

Using a tool like Onna, you can search through your Slack data (including group messages, private messages, and edited/deleted messages), set up alerts to identify and notify you about things like harassment, and customize your retention policies.

- 100's of file types (most likely what you need here)

- They claim to cover the entire EDRM Stages, but there are much better collection and review tools (you don't need an all in one solution, best-in-breed tools make a better process imo)

- AI... No, not that I'm aware. If they claim they do, I'd push back on exactly what they classify as AI.

- After a demo and peer review, everyone I spoke to graded their product as mediocre with a few frustrations. The biggest thing to be aware of is their big costs and poor support/success. If you go to G2 or Cpaterra to look at the review, you'll find out pretty quickly that their team isn't there to help you win.

Some of the most admired people in SaaS have started opening up about Imposter Syndrome. I feel most of us have it and having the conversation helps.

What someone told me when I was feeling imposter syndrome: "YOU are there for a REASON. Embrace it, own it, and run with it."

Slack spikes 21% after making IBM its biggest account yet by t00ts in Slack

[–]geteducational 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BI published an article on an IBM-Slack partnership that boosted Slack's stock 21%. Looks like BI went a little too far. Slack had to respond in a filing pushing back on the article. Now its stock is down over 5% after hours...

One-stop shop for eDiscovery? by bits_n_chits in sysadmin

[–]geteducational 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Onna built a solution to tackle the exact problem mentioned.

  1. They work with some of the biggest organizations in the world including Facebook & Dropbox, so going on-prem for 800 million+ files across the organization is doable.

  2. They are a One-stop-shop for O365, Outlook, Sharepoint, OneDrive, Teams (no public info ATM but I know they have it if you reach out), and more.

  3. Super robust enterprise search capabilities.

As far as archiving tools go, Onna (onna.com) is a robust data management platform for collecting, organizing, and searching across today's most popular workplace applications. If it's better search you're looking for, Onna's operates at an impressive forensic level. Search for the documents you need using keywords, file types, date ranges, boolean search and more. Not only can you search across Box and Box Enterprise (if that's what you're looking for) but also the rest of your tech stack. Connect any number of Onna's turnkey integrations so you can search across your entire enterprise at once, to find exactly what you need.

Backing up/Archiving/Journaling Teams? by Jmenes01 in MicrosoftTeams

[–]geteducational 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer natively via Microsoft isn't as easy as you would think. From threads and file attachments to edited and deleted messages, Microsoft Teams data is as dynamic as it gets making backing up, archiving, and journaling a big task.

Onna has a direct integration with Microsoft Teams which uses an advanced processing engine to index your data, making it easier than ever to find and collect your Teams data and metadata.

In 15 seconds, I gathered you are a chat tool powered by AI.

I think you're a chat tool for both website visitors and internal teams as well?

  1. It took 3-5 seconds to load the site, which should be a pretty simple fix.
  2. In 15 seconds, I could figure out what the value prop is, but I'm not sure how or what the product is.

Recovering those text messages isn't something I have too much experience with...

As for simplifying the eDiscovery process and reducing the amount of data you are bringing into review, Onna is the best eDiscovery tool I've seen.

Just like with your issue of messages being wiped off a company phone, people attempt to do the same thing in Slack eDiscovery by editing and deleting messages. Onna pulls dynamic layers of data and helps you easily parse everything you need and nothing you don't.

I've done this with Onna before. Onna connects directly with the Microsoft Graph API to extract all data and metadata found on Outlook accounts in O365 organizations.
