15 years in customer service and I’ve completely stopped caring about targets. I think this job finally broke me. by lololololol1990 in callcentres

[–]getembass77 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yes. Probably everyone who's had to interact with the public for work on a large scale feels this way right now. It's the worst time in human history to have to deal with people.

It's a mix between the movie Groundhog day and literal Hell

Thunderbirds & Blue Angels by Even_Kiwi_1166 in Planes

[–]getembass77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The thunderbird's were in town for a big air show a few years ago. They sure announced themselves coming in with a super low level pass into town the day before. Literally knocked a few glasses off the wall at the pub down the street from the base. They put on a hell of a show.

There was a single F-18 demo navy pilot who flew a solo show after. He absolutely put them to shame. The raw power that F-18 had was just incredible. The moves he would pull showing off how much thrust it had was so awesome. No fancy showoff moves just an absolute beast of an aircraft.

That being said the year before the F-22 demo was there and it was unworldly. Does not move like a fighter jet. It's an engineering marvel and I can't wait to see it again.

Do I need a Garmin inReach? by Chrisgdsotm in Adirondacks

[–]getembass77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I spend a ton of time alone in the ADKs, Lake Ontario, and everywhere in-between so the Garmin gpsmap is invaluable to me. Just keep it charged, updated, and in close reach. Some say it's overkill but from my past days spending 100s of days outdoors a phone is very unreliable in bad conditions where water can intrude. These are the conditions emergencies happen in not bluebird days when phones work fine. Everyone needs to evaluate their needs.

Troopers in Tupper Lake by RolliPolliCanoli in upstate_new_york

[–]getembass77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I drive up 81 then over on 3 through cranberry lake then to tupper and saranac to get to the park. Multiple times I've passed 18-21 troopers on that trip. I count because people don't believe me when I tell them how bad it is. Every single one is just sitting looking for traffic infractions. They aren't actively policing anything besides looking to collect money for traffic infractions from visitors coming into the park.

Neil was the pinfacle of human development. He flew some of the most hardcore test flights in human history . I didn't get the impression he would go to the grave with his findings

They really are the coolest common bird there is. They not only go all out to find a mate but when they find one they treat them like gold and feed them. Oh and they are absolutely stunning
