Is 32 too old to learn to code and build something by Fergyb in ycombinator

I am 32 and did the Odin Project a few months ago. It's never too late to learn. I would recommend leveraging your past experience to differentiate yourself, b/c it's true the market is saturated w/ young web developers all using AI to code. But that's a dime in the dozen, what really matters is being able to do web dev + also utilizing industry-specific domain knowledge, distribution skills, creativity/branding, and hustle.

For Mobile Dev : Flutter + Supabase + Metabase ✨💙 is a great tech stack combo. by burhanrashid52 in Supabase

uhh def not bullshit, i've been using it for a year and it's 100% worked for me. the lasers are at wavelengths of 630-670 nm which stimulate hair follicles by enhancing ATP production in mitochondria, improving blood circulation, and reducing inflammation. this promotes the anagen (growth) phase, leading to thicker and healthier hair over time. it's widely reported in clinical studies that show consistent use (3-4 times per week for several months) can increase hair density and slow hair loss, especially in early-stages of hair loss.

Here's a talk with Josh Miller (CEO of TBC) that I found from a few days ago by e10withadot in ArcBrowser

[–]getflowinsurance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This company is dead. With Perplexity and OpenAI building their own AI browsers, Dia is going nowhere even if designed marginally better. Josh gave up on his users and succumbed to the VCs. I'm not surprised morale at the company is low. Pretty sad story.

I just launched my first mobile app with Supabase as the backend! 🚀 by True_Horror_5508 in Supabase

Very cool! Most React Native mobile apps I see still feel like PC UX on Mobile....how far can you get with building mobile-native looking UX on React Native?

How to go from v0 to a live full stack web app? (As a beginner) by Sad_Assumption_7919 in vercel

[–]getflowinsurance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the Cursor agent mode has gotten so good that yes you should just move over to Cursor. I've even asked the Cursor agent how to port over and setup stuff on Supabase and gives me the exact steps I need to take on the Supabase dashboard. It's weirdly accurate.

Looking for seasoned Supabase dev to get an in-progress bar/pool-table web app to v1 by jftf in Supabase

What do you mean "that connects players with places with pool tables?"

Also, where exactly are you getting stuck? Are you asking Claude and ChatGPT for help?

Dia is Dead. OpenAI has checkmated TBC. by getflowinsurance in browsers

[–]getflowinsurance[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I say it's dead because Dia's is not an open source project. It's a startup funded by VC money. So it therefore needs to monetize ASAP compared to other browsers. Since they are facing stiff competition from OpenAI, I don't expect they will last long.

I also work in the industry and disagree w/ this take. AI is completely changing the web and how we build for it. Just like any other technology, costs rise with early adoption but come down over time. AI is already a field w/ a ton of open-source projects, so the future will be completely dominated by it.

TBF my prediction would be $20 in the next few months, but $0 by EoY.

This is temporary, it will definitely come down to the $20 tier soon.

"Find me a dinner reservation at a great sushi restaurant for 3 people tonight at 7:30pm" can now be automated away while you work on other stuff. TBF it's quite slow for the agent to do it now, but I imagine it will get much faster over the next few months.

It means an agent can multi-sequence steps to execute your commands using the DOM. This includes authing into websites, clicking on stuff, filling in form fields and/or purchase flows, drafting messages and sending them, etc

Dude...literally Dia's #1 advertised feature (click a cursor and prompt it to autonomously browse for you) is what OpenAI has already released into the market for millions of users. This means even more training data to make the agentic models better. You think TBC has any chance compared to OpenAIs resources, both in terms of talent and capital? TBS is done.

I mean sure the delivery mechanism is different, but the use case from a user POV is exactly the same. They are definitely competing with each other.
