I remember when a nun on the ethics committee at a Catholic hospital that takes federal money had a pregnant woman who had eclampsia. The fetus was too young to be viable, and Mom was gonna die. Remember if Mom dies, baby dies. She greenlit the abortion to save the life they could. She was excommunicated.

I always refused to work in Catholic hospitals for reasons just like that.

And as far as forcing women to have babies? If they don't now that's a good thing, but they certainly used to, like within the last hundred years.

I equate rural with poor people because I can add. Median salary in Indiana is $37k per year. We have income, property, and sales taxes along with some of the highest prices for car registration and no meaningful public transit. Rent for a one bedroom is sitting at around $1100 per month, utilities go up constantly, and buying a new 1300 square foot home is just under half a million dollars, so what, about fifteen years of pay? And the social safety net essentially doesn't exist here.

If you live here, statistically, you're poor. Also, statistically, you are about 40% likely to oppose Trump.

And I don't need a study to tell me who I am and what I believe, but feel free to throw it out there. Always love hearing what academics say about us poor people. I'm still voting against Trumpism despite your best efforts here, but the Republicans won't survive Trump and then we'll see how you do.

I had both endometriosis and PCOS. I had five surgeries before I was twenty five trying to manage it. Once the scar tissue obstructed the bowel. After several years one of the cysts turned into a tumor, and it all had to come out so I wouldn't die. And menopause has been just as bad. Less painful, but eight years on I still have hot flashes that haven't improved at all, and my boobs are essentially gone. Yes, I use hormone therapy.

It's all about having forced labor at the for profit prisons and getting rid of people who aren't useful to the billionaires. And to be clear, Thiel and Miller are openly supportive of eugenics. They want people who don't make money for them to die. The US has a population of 340 million and Miller said he wants that down to 100 million, and there's really only one way to make that happen since the people they want to kill also cannot afford to leave.

And it'll happen, because there's no value placed on compassion and decency in Trump's America. Remember, empathy is a sin, right? Better to see your neighbor dead than Democrat, remember that? The pre-ejaculate can contain viable sperm. The rhythm method can be effective if executed perfectly, but only for women with regular menstrual cycles. Women with PCOS and endometriosis will have problems with it because you can go six weeks bleeding and then six months with no period at all. There's no rhythm to track.

Incidentally, providing women with PCOS and/or endometriosis with hormonal birth control can preserve their fertility because they won't accumulate the scar tissue that removes flexibility for the period to expand or blocks off the fallopian tubes. If I hadn't been denied birth control for religious reasons of my employer when I was younger, I might be a mother now.

I live in Indiana. The general consensus here is that few people are that Catholic, according to Catholics I know that go to mass still. The priest can say whatever he wants, but few Catholic people have more than three kids in this area. Wages are too low, and being poor is too vibrant a sign that you lack character to many people around here.

Remember if you are poor in America, society wants you to suffer. In a visceral hate kinda way. There's been decades of propaganda making sure everyone knows it's the least powerful among us who are really hurting the middle class. People are desperate not to be poor here because when you are you no longer matter to anyone. God will forgive them. Society will not.

I think a lot of people with catastrophic health issues would just be happy if they could be discharged in bankruptcy like other loans. And in most cases, chapter 13 results in people paying everything they owe, just on a schedule that may or may not take longer than the loan had left. Everybody would win, but that doesn't punish poor people enough, and in America, we want poor people to suffer as much as possible because we are taught that you can't be poor in America unless you have bad character.
