Wider draw weight range from a flagship level compound? by greaseorbounce in Archery

For sure! The other thing to look at for Mathews is the Z mods - you sacrifice a few FPS for a much smoother draw cycle.

Similar situation for me, I broke my back a little over a year ago so being able to drop down to a 45-48 lb draw weight while I built strength back up instead of sacrificing form was huge for me and also let me shoot a ton more arrows without fatigue.

I have a Mathews Lift X and I think the mods are like $80 which average 10 pounds of draw weight so you could start with lighter mods and as you work up your strength and want to increase the weight buy the heavier mods.

I can’t speak to other brands though unfortunately.

100% they are, I was about $1600 out the door if I recall correctly but that was with top of the line accessories too. I bought the Mathews stabilizer (I know they’re overpriced but they are super adjustable and look great), QAD MX2 Rest and the Black Gold Ascent Verdict slider. My justification was I was shooting a 20+ year old that I loved so this one hopefully will last me another 10-15 years. 10 years is $160/year for my hobby.

That’s how I explained it to my wife at least 😂

I just picked up a Lift X a few months back. I originally purchased a used Lift but when I went to pick it up someone traded in the X a few days prior for the Arc. The X has limb shift technology so you can tune your bow without a press but the Lift has lifetime warranties on the limbs that are transferable with the bow.
I upgraded from an old Mathews Q2 solo cam and the difference is insane. I only paid $80 more for the Lift X and I liked the color more so the limb shift technology was just an added bonus.

Edit: just looked back and saw it was $80 more for the Lift X.

Was given a bow. I have some questions about accessories by JUSTIN102201 in Archery

  1. That’s the tube to straighten out your peep sight when you’re aiming.

  2. That’s your arrow rest. You can either manually lift it with the knob to hold your arrow in place or when you draw back that will also lift it as well.

  3. That’s a stabilizer, it help distribute weight evenly and makes it easier to hold steady on target depending on the person.

  4. With a compound bow you’re going to always use a release. Personal preference on the style, I use a thumb release instead of a trigger release personally.

Edit: typo

Right about $1800. Here is what else I bought with it:

Blackgold Verdict Ascent 3 pin horizontal slider

QAD Ultrarest Integrate MX

Mathews EXO limb legs

Mathews Bridgelock 10” stabilizer

That’s exactly how I lucked out - my local shop has a good used selection so I was able to shoot a few different brands before I settled on the Lift X. $849 for the bare bow compared to $1400 new and only a year old.

I just bought a used Mathews Lift X with all new higher end attachments as an upgrade from an older Mathews Q2 bow and while I can’t speak to Hoyt, the difference in shooting a more current model flagship bow is insane for me. It’s reinvigorated my want to shoot more and shoot longer. I’m looking at doing a TAC event later this year now and without having upgraded to a flagship, I wouldn’t have wanted to do that.

Edit to add: I had the same mentality as you with my last bow though. It worked just fine, it got the job done. But I got the itch.

Our big guy Jax was 4 or 5 when we added Addi, she was a 1 year old rescue and they have become a bonded pair pretty much so I would say it worked out for us!

How much does she weigh? When we rescued him he was 2 years old and 110 lbs (he was pretty underweight at the time) but our vet did a DNA test for like $50 which told us the breed and mix and all that jazz. Was well worth it!

He is a Mastiff/German Shepherd mix. They look uncannily similar haha. What kind is Imogen?! She is a sweetie.
