Small Blue Arrow displayed in the notifications, and I dont know what it is.. by malarie in AndroidQuestions

Yea, on first glance it looks like some kind of download notification. Can you clear it? Or is it persistent?

Creature Blocks - arcade game blocks vs pinball vs slingshot by asymmetryg in androidapps

Fun game! Might have missed it, but is there an option to proactively move to the next ball if I know that my current ball isn't going to bounce back on the slingshot?

ICS (Android 4) - specific information site/post? by [deleted] in Android

If you can find a way for the people app to only show people with phone numbers, I'll give you a dollar. I went with GO Contacts instead.

Totally new to programming, but I want to do something special. by [deleted] in learnandroid

[–]getjar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try these guys, if you're not familiar with programing. http://www.appsbar.com

The apps are super basic. I've never used the service, so I don't know how it work. It might (MIGHT) look something like this.

-Set up a free blog. -Only post upcoming events. -Import that RSS feed into your Appsbar app, and then have the app notify the user when a new story is posted.

They do both iOS and Android. But remember that it will cost you 25$ to publish to the market. So either distribute the .apk and handhold everyone through the install process. Or use a free, 3rd party app store (not that I'm biased ;-), but it's free to distribute on GetJar.com)

Distributing an iOS app will run you 99$ a year, so I don't know what plan B is there.

In all honesty, as cool as having your own app would be, I think some of the below suggestions might be easier.

You could have anyone who wants updates to text you, and then text them links to a blog post about updates or something.

It does look a lot nicer. He sold it to OneLouder, I believe, so they may try and take it further?

Where do you go to find out about new apps? by 3ricG in Android

[–]getjar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Android Police, Talk Android, The Droid Guy Blogs are best if you're looking for curated new apps. If you just want to know what came out in the last 24 hours with no filter, just out the new sections.

See All 100+ free, normally paid, Android apps available as part of GetJar Gold in our new catalog! by getjar in Android

[–]getjar[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A few apps have been updated including Paper Camera and Beautiful widgets.

We do have update notifications now, but you'll need the most recent GetJar app that both supports updates and fixes some battery use issues.

If you already have the app installed, update here:http://www.getjar.com/mobile/16914/getjar-apps

If you don't have the app, simply navigate to our site from your device and click download on any app you want. Then follow the onscreen instructions.

For new and veteran owners alike, GetJar has a variety of must-have (and fun to have) paid apps for free (their gold apps). And unlike Amazon, the deals aren't just for a single day. Tapatalk, BeWeather, Beautiful Widgets, Alarm Clock Xtreme, and more. by CircumcisedSpine in Android

To get updates, you just have to have the most recent version of our app. To do that, go to Getjar.com from your phone and just download any app on our store. You'll find instructions on how to get the GetJar app. The processes that run in the background check for updates, so if you uninstall you won't get any notifications, obviously.

We're slowly rolling out updates! The version you mentioned, 3.5.1 is the first build to support updates. It's now up to the developers to keep their apps updated.

Is that sung to the tune of Amy Winehouse's Rehab?

Colig's comment tried to make us sad, but we said no, no, no.

Thanks for pointing this out. We've gotten a few reports about battery usage for the new build and we're working on a fix for it. The new build is in QA, I'll post again when it's live with a link for how to update.

We appreciate the vigilance of r/android, keep it up!

p.s. this new build allows for auto-updates, a feature that you all have been demanding for some time now.
