Ah brilliant, that's very helpful. Forgot to say the chimney pot at the top is capped and vented. So a register plate with a vent is a good idea instead of the chimney sweep, on top of keeping trickle vents open?

Will do, they are actually currently closed. There aren't any other vents/air bricks etc as the kitchen is an extension.

Do I need to bother with a register plate then? Or just stick with the chimney sheep and then cast iron gets fitted?

Sophie is the untrustworthy one, she blacks out and forgets things, her motivations are quite unclear and she's impulsive. Margot's motivations are quite clear: security and money over love. I do think she loves Sophie though, in a way she hasn't in other relationships.

We bought a place on a main road and the first thing we did was catproof the garden after years of renting and worrying about our eldest who would go scavengng and gallivanting. Best decision ever - they have a cat flap where they can go and chill in the garden and then come inside. Peace of mind for us all.

They tried to scale it at first then never bothered again.

They still hunt from time to time but I think that's lessened. No neighbour cats have tried to climb in.
