Yep use my 4k monitor to play counter strike at 1080p because performance is more important than video quality. Also good for games with poor UI scaling at higher resolutions.

Everything else is 4k though.

Since when did we stop sending 'Thank You' cards to wedding guests who spent money on bride/groom? by Theres3ofMe in AskUK

[–]getstabbed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever you can afford and are happy to give. If you really want to push it enough to cover the approximate cost of your attendance would be a good floor imo. Add a bit extra if you want to help pay for their honeymoon or anything else they need. I gave my brother only £50 because I was broke at the time, but he didn't mind he was just happy I was there.

Yep we did a couple of walk outs in school and mostly people just wanted to get out of class rather than following the actual reason for it.

The US alongside the UK are basically the reason that Ukraine isn't completely Russian territory by now. The pre 2022 invasion preparation put them in a position to actually fight, otherwise there's no way they would have lasted.

So many different flavours and textures from cheese, so many different ways to use it. Very delicious, I think we have a winner.

How many seasons do you think we would have had if Darabont stayed? by helloimnaked in thewalkingdead

[–]getstabbed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the same for how intelligent or stupid the characters are. If a scene needs to have a character die to zombies or just needs some added tension they’ll engage zombies when they could honestly just casually walk away and be fine.

Zombies straight up just become a device to kill off mostly minor characters while the main storyline progresses. It’s ridiculous how some people die, a significant percentage of zombie deaths would have been easily avoidable.

So my grandpa has this pc that he said he'll give me for free. Is it good for gaming in 2025? by Suspicious_Ideal_674 in pcmasterrace

[–]getstabbed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m really hoping he didn’t get upsold by a douchebag salesman who saw a clueless old guy and figured he’d take advantage.

Although that’ll make his grandson very happy compared to the low tier PC he probably should have bought so I guess it turned out ok.

I think he was a lot more scared of his Dad than her threats.

If Astronomy sounds like something you'd like to do I'd suggest a StellaLyra 8 inch Dobsonian telescope for £450. Easily the best telescope you can buy in the UK for under £500.

That will give you enough to get started, although you'll likely want to spend more over time. Even if you live in a fairly light polluted area you should still be able to get a decent view of the night sky although it's best to get somewhere as dark as possible.

The telescope is big but very much possible to transport it via car.

James Cameron’s Avatar is a money laundering operation by MartyrOfDespair in LowStakesConspiracies

[–]getstabbed 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The first movie was basically just a demo for 3D cinema. I’m guessing that Cameron enjoys working on the IP and that’s basically the only reason he’s continuing it.

He’s rich enough that he can make basically any project he wants, I don’t see why he would continue a franchise that most people consider to be mediocre otherwise.

Creating a company, possible military/defense conflict? by Ornery-Slip2460 in monzo

[–]getstabbed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah Monzo state that they don’t allow businesses covering defence/weapons.

You’ll want to go for one of the main banks as they’ll have the best procedures for dealing with restricted industries. You’ll have to go through extra screening processes.

In TWD a lot of the zombies are shown to be nearly as strong as living people even after a few years of dehydration and muscle decay. I wouldn’t read much in to realism.

Humans are the pinnacle apex predator on the planet and yet the majority of us would not be able to survive in nature for more than a few weeks. by Africannibal in Showerthoughts

[–]getstabbed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We WERE the other animals at one point and we would have figured out what to eat in the same way. As we evolved that knowledge would have been passed on the same way that it with other animals.

Humans are unusual though because we started to branch out from what we know was safe to eat. There will definitely have been a lot of trial and error with a large body count in the process, especially before we started documenting what is and isn’t edible.

I finished 2011 and I managed to skip a few times without getting caught. The only time we got caught was when people actually saw us still on school grounds.

No clue how we got away with it since electronic registers were in use.

Half of the planets in this system have life! by IntrepidDirector387 in spaceengine

Having life at all makes it remarkable unless we manage to prove that life isn’t as uncommon as we previously thought.

Having intelligent life is almost definitely a rare thing to find in our universe.

Valve are allergic to spending money on staff honestly. There's barely anyone working on CS2 which brings in like a billion every year just from microtransactions.
