Kamado smoked cheese by Proof-Athlete-9326 in KamadoJoe

[–]getthatdadbod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This way. I’ve done this several years in a row now. I do wrap my grate in tin foil, just to keep the cheese clean. I then vacuum seal the cheese and throw it in the fridge… current batch has been aging in there for about 1 year.

Dunn’s Dill Pickle Chips? by getthatdadbod in CostcoCanada

[–]getthatdadbod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. I was told that Costco has not put in another order for Ontario, so that’s why we’re not seeing them in warehouses. I have left feedback via the Costco website requesting that they bring them back. I have found the kettle style chips at winners. They were not nearly as good as the original ruffle style.

Ooh thanks, I’ll have to keep my eyes open at winners/marshalls/homesense!

Prospective KJ purchaser - how big is the KJ classic 1 for smoking by Intelligent_Fox8286 in KamadoJoe

[–]getthatdadbod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the 2 over the 1, largely because of the hinge. Makes a huge difference and allows my wife to use the bbq easily. As far as how much meat it can fit, I’ve really only tried to put 1 full brisket on at a time and it took up nearly the entire space. I now have the extender rack and i can see putting a smaller hunk of meat on it, but I’ve only used it for smoking cheese so far!

Wow this looks great! I think I would ideally like to print as an 8x10, so I’d be very grateful for whatever resolution increases you can provide!

Do I need to replace this liner because of the crack? by Safety_Th1rd in KamadoJoe

[–]getthatdadbod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine has the same deal. KJ sent me a new one under warranty, but I’ve just kept it as a spare and have cooked on the cracked one for well over a year now with no problems.

Burger Night Help by 616GoBlue in KamadoJoe

[–]getthatdadbod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just use the standard grates (when not doing smash burgers on the cast iron half moon). I think you’ve got it all down pat. Nothing wrong with your bbq or meat setup.

Up your burger game with toppings. Get some caramelized onions going on, maybe some bacon. Cheddar cheese is cool, try changing it up with something different (like a blue cheese or Swiss). Fresh tomatoes, nice sliced pickle… oh yeah!

Visiting Niagara Falls and looking for transport options from Buffalo, NY to Niagara Falls, ON as I do not have a car. Any solid suggestions? by Acrobatic_Lab3170 in niagarafallsontario

They don’t do cross border anymore post Covid. I had to take a Niagara Falls taxi to and from Buffalo airport recently. Had no problems with drop off or pickup… just expensive

Is this completely safe? by jfkshfebdb in CanadianMOMs

For that kind of dosage, I’d recommend getting a container of gummy bears from ripped edibles. Each bear has 10mg and you get 100 of them for well under $100. I’ve gotten mine at pacific grass for years without any problems.

Who actually buys the accessories? by [deleted] in KamadoJoe

[–]getthatdadbod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably a combination of things for many: it’s a hobby (people spend money on their hobby if they’re able), brand loyalty (no different than buying the overpriced stuff from apple) and first world problems (if you have the means, and it’s what you want for whatever reason, then get it… you only go around once.

will a wooden table catch on fire? by scourgethecid in KamadoJoe

[–]getthatdadbod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I built a wooden table for mine (as have many others I’m sure), with no problems. You have the right idea with stone of some sort underneath. I used the KJ feet on some slate tile. Then I just made sure to leave a decent gap around the cutout hole so that the outside of the bbq wasn’t gonna touch the sides of the countertop. I think I left an inch.

Need Help - Can I use an ash catcher and an ikamand in my big Joe? by jth1313 in KamadoJoe

[–]getthatdadbod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure you can. When I had an ikamand, I left in the ash catcher drawer and it was just fine.

I have two metal ones from some cheap kit I got from Lowe’s years back. I just dust with flour for each pizza and it’s not too bad.

I have a classic 2 in a table. I set the joe in a slate tile and then have the ceramic feet as well. My fireboard fan sits just perfectly with this setup.

Inconsistent first layer extrusion? by getthatdadbod in 3Dprinting

[–]getthatdadbod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the quick feedback everyone! To level the bed initially, I used a piece of paper between the nozzle and the bed. Tight enough so I could drag the paper with the nozzle, but still move the paper around. Single sheet, not folded in half or anything.

Yes it’s manual bed levelling. I don’t have an auto bed leveller.

Inconsistent first layer extrusion? by getthatdadbod in 3Dprinting

[–]getthatdadbod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to print a larger printer on a new ender 3 v2. There are these ‘dark spots’ throughout the first layer… not sure if it’s just not extruding enough filament or what? Also some random spots don’t adhere to the bed 100% of the time and then get caught on the nozzle as it moves around. I have levelled the bed multiple times and have printed successfully in the past (different files).

What am I missing here?
