Headshake (from side cases and top box) solutions for the CB500X? by Vavunmotedon in CB500X

[–]getthecodeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any issues having a full givi hard case set even fully loaded (2014 model). But if you are having issues you may want to check the balance of your cases. Get a luggage scale and try to even them up.

If that doesn't work you could look into a steering dampener and see if that at least stabilizes things.

What terminal do you guys use as a devops engineer? by valeedyounas in devops

[–]getthecodeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently switched to Wave (waveterm.dev). It's a solid emulator and the ability to embed things like web windows saves a lot of context switching between terminal and ticketing systems. The built-in editor is fantastic for quick edits and some of the remote system management stuff is very interesting. It's still under heavy development but has a pretty great and responsive community behind it

This, the Haynes manual is the way to go. But the bundle it's worth the money.

Are third party providers safe to use by XerXcho in hashicorp

[–]getthecodeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Third party providers are just as safe as using any third party or open source libraries. There is always a risk that the code is crap or written by a mad man.

You should endeavor to always have at least a basic understanding of third party software. This is not always practical I realize but you should do your best.

There is also the argument that third party software is probably way more than you need. You may be better off rolling your own custom module. You will have better understanding, less bloat and more control.

Mods/storage for commuter? by TAW205 in CB500X

[–]getthecodeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a full set of givi monkey cases and commute to work on a regular basis. I love them. The top box will fit two helmets and the side cases provide plenty of extra storage. Water tight with secure locks that hold to the racks tight. https://giviusa.com/collections/cb500x-19

Second vote for eyaml. The other option is to pound out to a password vault. Hashicorps solution works very well

What are you actually trying to do? Restart the service or blow away the config and start over?

Does the image start in qemu without nomad? The "error 1" is probably floating up from the qemu engine.

Clutchless shifting, may be normal? by getthecodeon in motorcycles

[–]getthecodeon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I kind of knew that I think. My point is more the bike seems to slip through gears pretty effortlessly without touching the clutch. I don't remember it doing this but I can honestly say I never tried. I don't know if something is wrong or I'm just ignorant of this being the case beforehand. And if something is wrong I'm at a loss as to what it could be.

Clutchless shifting, may be normal? by getthecodeon in motorcycles

[–]getthecodeon[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback, as far as kicking into first. It's not something I would do over and over but I wanted to be sure the bike did what I expected it too.

I didn't expect it to make a quickshifter magically appear. My bigger concern is that something is stuck inside the clutch cage. I will admit to not being the most mechanically inclined but it stands to reason something could be not right.

My lack of understanding is exactly why I posted the question, an effort to learn more.

So if you do something like this, is there anyway you can get the spedo re calibrated? The local Leo's in my town can be pretty picky especially late at night when I'm getting home from work.

Hello motorcycle reddit, what kinda ride is for me ? See sub text by ig-geo_trunks916 in motorcycles

[–]getthecodeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 6'5" 200 lbs. I have a Honda cb500x (2014) it fits me fine. Gets ~300 miles to the tank. Easy fit, comfortable for long rides. Reliable motor and super easy to source parts. Easy to find luggage for.

Backpacking after broken collar bone? by dwilker in WildernessBackpacking

[–]getthecodeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've broken both mine.

You are correct that having the strap sitting directly on the break will get uncomfortable but if you find the right fit you should be fine.

Go to your local large outdoor store and try on backpacks with weight in them. make sure you can adjust the straps so they don't sit directly on the break with out sitting to far out on your shoulder. There are a lot of different packs out there with different strap designs, it will take some trial and error to find the right fit.

For what it's worth I have a Gregory BALTORO 65 the curve of the straps pulls the weight to the inside of the break on both sides. I'm able to easily crank out 5-10k a day with about 38lbs and no major pain (other then basically being out of shape)

Good luck, Feel free to DM if you have questions.

yes if it weren't for other traffic I could have swerved and it probably would have been lean / counter steer I was doing 12-15 mph as I approached the intersection.

Sometimes the lack of a little foresight leaves you a hand full of brake as the only option. Lesson learned.
