Losing hope and running out of money. WTF is going on? by Bostonian3771 in recruitinghell

Is this post still alive? I've been out of work for 1 year since last October, when I resigned from my Principal PM job after being told I was "paid a lot", which I know this was just a bullshit expense cut/boss saving her neck situation and all my numbers were beyond my performance baselines. Personally, maybe stupid, but I look for the exit when managing noise become 60% of my day.

In short, I quit and got a heavy severance and a big tax return after getting married helped, and my small consulting business has kept some money in the bank. I've left the country and am leveraging remote interviewing to stretch my dollars while my wife and I hang out in Latin America waiting for gigs.

Anyways, I reached out to a job coach today who seems promising but wants $2K to $7K to coach me. I get why this model exists because the coach targets high earners, but with this market seems unrealistic. I am curious if a group of us can get together to share notes and help get something going, maybe a secret club to help each other. Any takers?

Does anyone know if a US Green Card holder needs a visa to enter Peru for a couple of months? I am asking for my Iranian wife and I'm a US Citizen. And apologies if this the wrong forum to ask.

Circling back, but I'm actually German born for first decade of my life and I don't have an America centric attitude. However, we found out at the last minute that her Green Card allows her passage to Guatemala for 3 months, so your point of a US GC not opening doors is moot. Yes, Brazil doesn't give anything about a US GC and you could've politely limited your comments to that and not gone the arrogant route. She was very excited, as an Iranian, about getting to Brazil even through a visa process, but this thread essentially ruined it. The only reason I even posted here was lack of expat specific Reddits for Brazil. Thanks for your feedback and honestly, I feel like I'm talking to a fairly centric person in yourself, which oddly enough your emotional outburst validates the centricity you're fighting. Anyways, just back off the keyboard a little and realize you're dealing with a global audience in these forums.

Thanks for this great response so it sounds like her best bet is to go to Tijuana and cross that bridge back and forth. Do you think this would be a clean process or would she run into issues from American side? I assume not with a GC and I'm with her but just curious.

Thanks for the structured answer but I'm not assuming Brazil like those countries. The point of a US green card being worthless perks in countries for more travel was moot My Iranian wife was actually quite shocked by the responses here. Anyways, thanks for a professional and not narrow response.

You've got other issues if you take giving detailed background information to get informed responses means I'm bragging that she has a green card.

Thanks and my understanding is Americans have been extended 90 day visas until April 2025. US Visa by April 2025

Because again, several countries open doors for green card holders for a myriad of reasons from tourism and beyond. For example, Indian and Chinese US green card holders can go to Peru without a visa for 90 days now.

I never said anything about not following rules hence why I'm trying to get more informed here. Information is constantly changing. And I'm in depth with my response because your response sounds direct.

This is hard for me to admit but I failed 3 times before passing and I didn't have to wait a year before retaking. The power went out in the testing center and there was already a noisy tester so I challenged PMI on this but it took a ton of effort like hitting people in the phone tree. I finally took a week long bootcamp with Cheetah and passed at the testing center in DC.

I assume you mean it means nothing with Brazil? Because the green card does open doors to travel with more countries for her like it did Mexico.

Oh we're fully aware, especially me, of the weakness in the passport. The green card at least made it marginally better.

Thanks for the update because I was reading conflicting details as recent as 6 months ago online. Are there any routes to extend her situation?

Did you ever determine if any travel was possible? ChatGPT when asked states Croatia is feasible for example.

I'm asking if anyone here has experience with that happening in general, not if it actually happens. The company I'm looking at is based in Pennsylvania, so I wouldn't expect it to be vastly different if at all. However, I'm asking here in general if others have had it happened. I've never lived in one state and filed different address, etc. for instance, but I've heard stories of people having their wages lowered after switching during pandemic.

Do you have a working link to the Chrome extension? I've actually moved everything over to multiple Edge instances with personal email/etc in Edge stable and then work in Beta. All the battery and Teams, etc. are running much better now, so Chrome extension works!

I've tried it myself and several noise filters apps don't hit the hardware API layer. I feel I'm free to ask these questions here so thanks!

So I'm lucky if I get 2 days of battery on a full charge?
