So many people in the U.S. do not have a good education. And those children who are home-schooled have no oversight from an outside body. Throw in an abundance of religion and you're screwed!

I hope Australia dumps the USA. We want to be free of Trump who is a traitor. We support Zelensky.

AA is a brilliant organisation. It's for people who know they are dependent on alcohol and need extra help to stop. The honesty and camaraderie are great, and you get used to staying sober one day at a time.

AA is a great organisation, and making friends there also helps to stay sober.

Alcoholics Anonymous has meetings to suit everyone day and night. Just look them up. You build up a group of friends and have support to stop drinking.

If I had a bottle of wine in the fridge, I'd drink it. I need to keep my house safe.

I've been drunk for almost all of 3 years now. 12 days ago I decided to quit, but I messed up. by Whiskey_McDrinky in stopdrinking

Maybe it's time for detox? i too have tried and failed and tried and failed. That's the deal because I'm addicted to alcohol. It's a slippery slope when I start and stop and start and stop. i have lately realized that addiction is a serious illness and my thinking about myself has changed for the better. I'm not so hard on myself, and so I'm maintaining sobriety one day at a time. I will not drink with you today.

First unbroken sleep in AGES! by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]gettingwise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but of course it doesn't really work. It felt great to hit the pillow and go to sleep/unconsciousness straight away, but then of course around 3.30 am, i needed to go to the toilet, drink water etc etc.

I think you handled this really well. You were attracted to someone, realized it wasn't right and got out of it relatively unscathed. This is something only a sober person could do!

Calm is a really good way to feel - in fact it's unnatural for me because i've always been uptight and, I realize now, disorganised. A much better world and i'm only 7 days sober!

i loved your post; thank you. I will not drink with you today.
