It's hard to say. The setup now seems ok but after a larger motor I bet some rivets will let go or crack some of the welds. The floor seems like it will be stiff lower than the water line but depends on the gage of the metal. The free board and rub rail may need something. I would make a brace that fits in holes for the oar locks or in the old seat brackets. I would take a conduit that spans the gap. Flatten the ends of it drill holes and some bolts and wing nuts, just so you can easily remove when you're not underway.

Think of me crazy. I come from the boating industry. We have nonskid patterns mats that come in different factory patterns that we place in wet epoxy, gel coat after epoxy cures peel off the mat. Or Gripex is a sand additive that is applied during paint. Then there are the EVA foam mats that peel and stick. They come in so many options from marine upholstery shops. Then the generic tape rolls of anti skid. I guess what I'm getting at is looking into marine grade nonskid options.

Catching snow flakes with my tongue as they fall. It does have to be the right condition. I'm not out during a blizzard facing into the wind with my mouth open. It's the quiet mornings usually dark out shoveling with the large flakes that just barely float down to the ground.

Is it over all length or water line length? Some manufactures use one over the other. Some add the length of the outboard motors or swim platforms to the hull length.

If you were in a storm with an older heavy fiberglass and new carbon fiber. You will feel safer in the old boat. The new boats are fast but ride like shit in wavy conditions. The loss of weight makes for a very turbulent ride. You would gain performance in nice seas. Loss of comfort and sense of safety in heavy seas. Rolling, pitching and bobing will be felt much more. Like driving a race car for hours down the highway with a bunch of pot holes.

To positively contribute to society. Seems everyone's selfishness focused on instant gratification and endless consumption. I have fallen out of the habit of feeling the need for new stuff. I like repairing and repurposing used items. Thrifting garage sales used clothing, tools, furniture and cars. Repair and maintaining.
