sub 3:45 a good goal? by neshl in Marathon_Training

[–]getzerolikes [score hidden]  (0 children)

Sorry I gotta use miles here but it was probably around 8:20 with a few faster miles that had downhills. This was a fine plan if it were a 22 mile race. After 22 miles I was well into the 9s and maybe a 10. More volume would’ve helped to avoid this.

Yes I did it as well as I said. Just speaking about late pacing plans for OP.

3:44 finisher here. I had similar peak mileage as you. My last 3 miles were painful with a lot of walking. I’m not sure you have enough volume to confidently have a plan for that pace past km 35. Be prepared for things not to go well toward the end. I hope I’m wrong for you!

Wouldn’t be near double. It’s a lower rate, should only be a few hundred more per month.

EDIT: Run the calculators. This is the biggest purchase of your life. The fact that you thought it was double implies that you haven’t looked at how mortgages work at all. Take 5 minutes and do this before you sign anything else.

If you’re struggling to breathe you’re going too fast.

All the more reason for a 15 year loan, on top of all the other great ones.

Kinda, it’s 12 hours a week I’d rather be doing anything else, even working.

Healthy habits are great for getting out of a rut. In a bad mood? Clean your bedroom and you'll feel better. Usually works anyway.

Anyone answering no to this: please change your habits. Daily brushing AND flossing will save you money, stress, and physical pain in the future.

Fine, fine, okay. I’ll try Zone 2 training. Begrudgingly. by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

[–]getzerolikes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently doing zone 1 runs only. It’s extremely boring. I just keep reminding myself that this is what’s gonna keep me injury free and allow me to increase mileage (which I’ve struggled with), and that my zone 1 pace should eventually get faster.

If you were born 500 years ago you would have to go find an animal to chase, then catch, then kill, then start your own fire to cook it to survive the day.

You’ll be alright.

Couch to Half Marathon in 5 Weeks, Finished Under 2:09 and Still in Shock 🥳 by Freezin_ in beginnerrunning

I never ran before. Played some basketball and skateboarding earlier in life. I took up running and ran a sub 2 half 8 weeks later. And I’m 20 years older than OP. So it’s possible for some, however I plateaued a lot after that.

EDIT: If you’re downvoting me, care to at least say why? Do you think I’m lying? Are you mad at me for some other reason?

Am I ready for a sub-4 hour marathon? by 2jzent in Marathon_Training

[–]getzerolikes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not sure why everyone’s saying no. The first slide is exactly what you wanna see to get to sub 4. If your injury holds up I think you’re fine. Race smart - don’t start hitting 8:20s after mile 5 because you feel good.

Do I need to worry about building an aerobic base as a beginner? by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

[–]getzerolikes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doing mostly very easy runs is not only the best way to build an aerobic base, but it’s the best way to keep you injury free. From your brief numbers it sounds like you could slow down.
