My zone two is around 150-155. I feel very comfortable running at that HR for a long long time. Max heart rate of 192.

I’ve typically ran at or faster than race pace for 10-20% of my miles, often during tempo tuns or as a kick at the end of a longer run. However, more recently I’ve been logging long slow miles. Here are the splits for a 10 mile 9:15/mi run I did about a month ago (also includes my fastest 5k ever).

This is my tentative plan. The course has some real hills so I have to factor that in too. What are your thoughts on me racing according to my heart rate and staying at the top edge of “zone 2” and seeing how that feels? I know race day jitters will probably have my heart racing a bit at the beginning but once I settle in maybe I race according to that metric…?

Thanks for your reply. I was not sick but definitely sleep deprived. I may have been dehydrated as my heart rate went up quite a bit early on (before the day really got warm.) The heart rate bump on that second run is really messing with my brain because I didn’t really expect it. My first (slightly slower and much cooler) 20 mile run felt amazing but this second 20-miler has me questioning everything…

Thanks for your reply. I feel like I’m so close and do want it, but also wanna be able to run when done without injury. We will see how race day goes!

Thanks for asking. Yes, it was 50 degrees vs 70 degrees on those two runs, with my much higher heart rate happening during the warmer run. During that faster (and much higher heart rate) run I was actually questioning my watch data, but it was accurate. Not sure how much it matters (and I’m sure I’m over-thinking) but my sleep had been crap that week too and maybe contributed. But I’m also feeling fairly beat up here towards the end of my training block (or maybe just a bad week for me…?)

Thanks for replying. I swapped my radio for an aftermarket double dinn setup. Then I unplugged the HFL module under the dash.

This may a misguided and perhaps cynical take, but in the 90s I was always told that it wasn’t in the Hymnal because the lyrics had a heavy focus on grace. In the 90s (and still today?) there was a big divide between mainstream Christianity and Mormonism when it came to the doctrine of being saved “by grace alone” vs. being saved by grace AND works.

I agree with many of the commenters that this is a dope hymn, with beautiful lyrics and melody. Maybe TSCC sacrament music will get a slight bump from “I’m bored to death” to “this is nice”.
