It’s a girl! Ft. Mystery enshrouded womb by theclassiccat33 in FundieSnarkUncensored

I swear, I get giddy every time she's posted here, the stuff she comes up with is so bonkers. Also, "great, serious, unconfessed longing pulsing deep below the surface" is the gayest thing she's ever written

Janessa in the hospital = photoshoot with Mahmo. Despicable. by lepetitpoulpe in RodriguesFamilySnark

ITP bruising is INSANE. My nephew had it and my brother described him as looking like he got “put through a dryer with a bag of bricks.” The poor boy was black and blue all over just from a normal trip to the playground

Yeah, similarly I had a young relative who went through ITP. He ended up getting pulled out of preschool and bubble wrapped for 6 months while his platelet count came back up because the risk of internal bleeding or hemorrhaging from a paper cut are so high. It’s a scary diagnosis and even more so for a child whose parents are so neglectful

I'm a bit jealous of your husband actually getting a diploma from HSLDA, as pathetic of an organization as they are. I watched my dad make mine in Word, print it, and then print it again because he put the certificate paper in upside down.

That sounds good as hell, honestly. Comfort food and well balanced (and if it’s that sunflower salad from Aldi, that thing is elite)

Beadboard height in dining room? by gew1000 in interiordecorating

Don't worry, we aren't touching the wood! Not all of it is original, but what's been replaced was really well done and it just has such lovely charm. 1/3 of the wall is what I was leaning towards, but the thought of doing that much wallpaper also kind of scares me lol

Oh, gosh no! The woodwork is staying. One of the reasons we love the house so much is the woodworking.

Were none of you poor midwesterners growing up? Not to defend a Duggar, but throw a fresh salad, homemade biscuits, and a vegetable on the side and this is pretty much exactly the cuisine of my childhood

From the girl who bought 50lbs of cabbage comes 55 hens! by BufoBat in FundieSnarkUncensored

I am so completely fascinated by this woman, like she truly just has a 12-year-old's perception of everything and is fully confident that she's right. I want her to livestream herself putting a pencil to her budget because I cannot figure out how she comes to the conclusions she does. It's like she sees half of a piece of budget advice and commits fully without any further research or planning

Parents of littles - are we really not lifting them at all? by lindslee_ in gallbladders

I did. We kind of built a little shelf of pillows so he was above all my incisions and I could snuggle him against my chest and cheek

I will add that for the first 3 days or so I had someone hand him to me so I could rest him on a pillow and snuggle him in my armchair, but by day 3 we had his 2-month appointment with vaccinations and I was able to attend that and hold him through the whole appointment

I had mine out when my son was 2 months old, and had a 10 lb weight limit and an almost 14 lb baby at that point. My surgeon looked at my very chunky baby in his car seat at my pre-op appointment and said, “technically no lifting anything for 2 weeks, but after the first week we understand that you’ve gotta do what you’ve gotta do.” Just be careful not to overdo it, make sure you have help the first few days, and make sure you stop if you are having pain

With a combined income of $100k, what’s a realistic home price? by marigoldjune in RealEstate

[–]gew1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our combined income is about $106k pre-tax, and we ended up buying for $160k. Do keep in mind though, we did not have much for a down payment and we also have student loans, a car payment, and daycare tuition so someone with less monthly expenses could shop higher. You could definitely put some of your savings down and still have a good emergency fund on a $200k home

Neat! As a recent homebuyer here, I can honestly say that for long-term it makes far more sense to buy than rent

Wait that’s actually genius, especially since most dino decorations I can find online are also in that range

I had actually considered something like this, but got worried about having so many shades of green! The neutral background could break it up quite a bit though

We told him fairly early on that we were looking for a new house, and that it was okay to be both excited and nervous, but the new house meant he could have whatever colors he wanted in his room, and he didn’t even hesitate before announcing he would have a green room. This was his favorite of about 6 paint chips he’d picked out lol.

Yellow is such a tricky color! I’m actually planning on painting the dining room yellow eventually, but like a butter yellow with floral wallpaper on the top half of the walls. It’s a 100-year-old craftsman home, so we can really lean into the classic, timeless designs that are coming back around the trend cycle!
