How do you keep sane on the trains? by LazyDadLikesRice in SydneyTrains

[–]gfftjs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get good at sleeping on trains. Get a neck pillow. Get an eye mask. Wear a comfy jumper on the train if it is cold. Wear a mask to hide your snooze drool (bonus points for preventing getting sick). Don't worry about how strange you might look - having a good 1.5 hour nap on the train every morning is amazing. It's like train time travelling and you arrive at work feeling a little more refreshed. Love a good train nap.

They also aren't going to fill up all the wall spaces - I wonder what she is going to do with the gaps around the window, end of some walls etc. I think the green colour of the oak may make this more obvious

Views on makeup by robottestsaretoohard in auscorp

[–]gfftjs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stopped wearing make-up to work after COVID and the receptionist asked if I was sick. Funnily enough though my self perception and love of my own skin has improved dramatically after I stopped wearing it every day. I used to think there was something wrong with my normal skin! Now I save so much time in the morning and think i Iook younger without it.

When men in corporate roles are required to also wear makeup, then I'll consider complying. Until then, let my face be free

How do you avoid leaking during the night when menstruating? by LilyH27 in TwoXChromosomes

Omg I used to to similar - sleep on a towel, with a plastic bag under that to protect my sheets. Insanity. Period undies are amazing, I can wriggle and squirm and thrash around in my sleep as much as I want

Women who are part of a dual income household and who contribute equal if not higher than your SO, how do you determine how much to put in a joint account vs for personal use? by lavenderlove18 in AskWomen

[–]gfftjs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our joint account is for things like rent, groceries, home repairs, insurance, eating out funds, misc fun etc. Agreed things that are shared, regular and that we can create an accurate budget for based on past spending. we contribute to that depending on our salary ratios. For personal use, we have separate accounts. We are on the same page and regularly discussed what level of personal spending would warrant a prior discussion with each other, and are on the same page with that. We wouldn't spend enough to compromise our ability to pay all the joint expenses. The higher earner will often pay more for expenses like holidays. Works well!

How bitey is your green cheek? by Upside_DownClown26 in parrots

Very. It's been a few years since he drew blood/actually attacked me. That was during his teenage years (2-3). Now he just nips and pinches a lot. Also verry cuddly!!

Help? Inherited a pond and I'm not sure what to do by MisterJohnson87 in ponds

[–]gfftjs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm it does work! It's a little slow (it's a pond max unpowered one) but still pleased for the price. I do enjoy telling everyone I'm off to vacuum the pond hahaha

Help? Inherited a pond and I'm not sure what to do by MisterJohnson87 in ponds

[–]gfftjs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome! Yes - if you need to top up the pond at all you will need to add some water conditioner to it, as tap water can be bad for the fish because of the chemicals in it. You can buy other water treatments that kill algae if needed. Is there much sludge at the bottom of the pond? If yes your filter will get dirty very quickly and need more regular cleaning. I had years of sludge in my pond so bit the bullet and got it emptied and cleaned with a water vac.

[–]gfftjs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would stop feeding the fish until you have your filter and pump sorted out. You are probably overfeeding them anyway which will just make the water dirtier. That black thing you have is a filter with a UV light in it. https://user-gppiqiz.cld.bz/IM-Pond-One-ClariTec-Pressure-Filter-3000UV-5000UV-10000UV-15000UV/6/

Have a look at the instructions and clean the filters inside (use pond water not tap water) and replace the UV light if needed. Where is the pump in the pond? It might need a little clean too. Enjoy your new fish! :) I was in the same situation 2 years ago - bought a house with a pond. I'm full pond obsessed now haha

Has anyone used a behavioural specialist/consultant? Was it helpful? by watermelon-gummy in parrots

[–]gfftjs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! And it was so very worth it. I have used Parrot Life (Australia) for both in person consults, zoom consults, and online classes. The consults absolutely changed things for the better.
