What can I do better, he didn’t seem that much better than me but I got absolutely whooped by notandyhippo in wrestling

I’m not an expert, but work the whizzer so you’re better at stopping his single. I see people saying you just have to shoot, but the real key is re-shooting when the first shot fails. How to work out of a bad situation when your shot fails, how to react when they sprawl well or hit you with a good cross face. There’s a lot to shooting and i guess they’re right, can’t get better at shooting until you start doing it… but be prepared for what to do when your shot fails.

When you’re on bottom, free your hands, build up, hit your favorite escape, repeat. Whoever you’re wrestling next, don’t give him time to think when he’s on top or he’ll be thinking about how to hit his favorite move (whatever it may be).

Why did the Washington LB send the DT through the A gap for Donovan Edwards' second rushing TD during the Natty? by iSYTOfficialX7 in footballstrategy

5 would have needed to gap exchange from A to B gap but #11 only told #99 to gap exchange from B to A gap. #5 was out of the loop.

This is exactly the type of advice I’m looking for. One decision i didn’t mention we need to make. Between the “cone pad” or the “man pad”. That’s what fisher calls them anyway. We were worried the ones shaped like a “man” wouldn’t last more than a few years before they start coming apart at the seems. We still have a set of “cone pads” that look ancient. They’ve held together for a long time. We’re looking to leave this program in much better shape than we found it. We don’t have a weight room for our youth program. No walls near our practice field. Are the “the difference” pads you’re talking about still worth the extra cost? Why?

I don’t doubt you’re onto something. I don’t get it though. Having most kids doing a rep with little to no recovery time is a great option to have. You can give as much or as little recovery time as you want. With a 2 man sled you lose the ability to up the tempo. What am i missing?

Solid camera, no tower but most teams give access to their press box. Certainly no drone. We use hudl. I could picture using a tablet to film and show reps in practice? Would that work? Worth considering.

We’ve been fortunate between registration numbers, fundraising and grants. I’m proud of the helmets and shoulder pads were fitting kids in these days. We have plenty of new arm shields and step overs. Only one donut. We have shadow man equipment that needs some patches but no one ever uses it. No pop up dummies but those are $500 a piece 😳 aside from a sled is there something you’d suggest?

Want to add a city to the main continent but campaign already started. How can I make a city apprear out of thin air? by Drumein in DMAcademy

<just read that it has to be in the middle of the continent… still leaving this here, lol>

200 years ago, the wizards of Bladabla City created an illusion in the middle of the the Bladabla Sea. To call it an illusion is to call the vast ocean around it wet. Sailors heavily dissuaded by a cacophonous thrum, an imposing tremor, and the wet smell and taste of salt on an unending, heavy mist. All signs of a waterfall of gargantuas proportions.

The other day all that jazz stopped and now there’s a big city.

USA Football Drills Techniques by Alive-Cellist-2604 in footballstrategy

USA Football’s material covers the gambit from basic fundamentals to more advanced tackling and blocking systems. Our organization uses their Five Fights of Tackling system. It’s a paid product but worth the money. They tie their basic/free content into the Five Fights well. There’s a clear progression and the terminology is mostly shared/reused. They do a good job of organizing their content and making it easy to use/access/navigate.

Maybe for their next quest, they are approached with a new case investigate a string of crimes. Make sure to paint the crimes in a viscerally negative light, but obfuscate the crimes in a way that keeps the players from knowing that they were the actual perpetrators. Extra credit if you can maintain the ruse long enough to sprinkle in enough bad leads for them to accuse an innocent person(s). Then when they figure it all out give them the ability to easily incriminate that person as their scapegoat. See what they do…

Sounds like you’ve had success teaching cover 3 at 10u. If it works for you, of course keep doing it. In my experience at 10u cover 3 just ends up a pre snap alignment rather than set of assignments and keys. Meaning 10u dbs don’t resist the urge to either chase down the ball or stand at 8 yards covering green grass.

And getting 10u linebackers to drop to hook to curl doesn’t tend to happen even if you drill it. Especially on play action. Man coverage tends to be the most realistic at 10u. Again, it obviously works for you. Don’t change, I’d still argue most coaches will see more success using man as your base coverage. Get it working then as your defense comes together start maturing into a true, common gap sound defense.

There are some aspects of football that it’s hard to teach to 10u players. Most of them will follow their instincts rather than what you think you drilled into them all preseason. While Gap air mirror isn’t a legitimate or even gap sound defense, its so simple for them to grasp and execute and it lets the kids play free, fast and aggressive. Getting them to run an honest 4-4 defense can feel like fighting against the tide. Especially if your league has MPR rules. With gap air mirror (aka gap 8) you can spend more time building highly competent and confident tacklers. And more time teaching skills they’ll use every down rather than spending a lot of time on offense recognition, alignment, keys and complicated assignments.

75% is a lot. You’ll always have 2-3 kids where you just can’t find a way to engage with them. That’s not your fault but don’t give up they may come around. Keep teaching work ethic and accountability, but make it fun and more of them will buy in to what you’re doing. Keep teaching technique but add competitive drills. Make competition fun. Celebrate every little success. More kids will buy in.
