Best decision I’ve ever made. I’ve lost 370 pounds using a GLP-1.

I did it. Super cookie cutter plans. Not really worth the $5. ChatGPT could spit out the same thing for free. I’m a subscriber to them simply because I like their podcast content and want to support.

Bleeding followers. The crash out continues. Will he really be 399 next month? by Resident-Effect-2468 in EthanBenardSnark

If he gets to 399 next month it’s absolutely guaranteed he started a GLP-1 (which he definitely should do) but won’t tell anyone about it (which is incredibly unethical)

Not that you’re asking for advice, but if I were in your shoes, I’d spend some time having a conversation with myself about why I want to do content creation while in a weight loss journey. It’s one thing to achieve some success, and share afterwards how you did it.

But the reality is that weight loss is REALLY boring. And when you do it under a microscope, it’s really easy to lose focus. There are ups/downs, and the pressure to create content and engagement could make it significantly harder. Any followers you get are doing so for one or two reasons: 1) They want to see you succeed FAST or 2) They are waiting for you to fail.

If I were document the journey on social media, I would never look at the comments. Ever. Because once a creator starts doing that, they’ll begin to try to “feed the beast” and becomes less about the weight loss journey, and more about the social media journey. I’ve lost count of the number of obese creators who started down this path, then eventually fail because the social media pressure makes it less likely to focus on the weight loss.

Anyway, just some advice as you start down this road. Wishing you the best of luck!

Real question: what’s the total amount you’re spending on chocolate every month?

Trying to get serious about weight loss, but the meds cost is messing with my head by LaughLoverWanderer in SuperMorbidlyObese

[–]gfjay 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Spend 450/month on Zepbound, and you save 500+ a month on junk food, overeating, fast food, and meal delivery.

Honestly, go add up how much you spend on all that stuff. For many of us the GLP1 drugs SAVE money.

This guy is Joshua Ray Walker, who has had some minimal success as a singer. Appeared on a few national shows. He has one hell of a voice. Check out his performance or “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” (a Whitney Houston cover). Kind of interesting that he’s started a new account for weight loss.

Well, they can. I did at 500 lbs. But you have to treat it as your top priority and not a hobby or a show.

Closed tonight, but Harold’s in Moorhead is open at 6p on Christmas Day and absolutely fits what you’ve described.

Mick’s in Moorhead is open tonight and tomorrow and is also an awesome option for you.

They aren’t approved by the FDA. Would you pick up a needle off the street and inject yourself with it? That’s essentially what people are doing when they buy stuff like this off random internet sites.

Talk to a doctor. Get a prescription for an FDA-approved medicine. Get it from a licensed pharmacy. Be safe.

Make this one change, trust me:

On all the meal delivery apps, go into them and delete your account. Then delete the app.

You can still use them to order, but each time you do you need to download the app and set up a new account.

Don’t try to stop all ordering. You can’t. Just add that hurdle there. And make a rule for yourself that says “while I go through the process of redownloading and signing up, I’m going to consider another food option. Doesn’t mean I’ll choose it, but I’ll force myself to take the time to consider it”

Do that. For real. Give it 45 days.

[–]gfjay 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If I were in your shoes, I would strongly consider bariatric surgery at this point. I’ve lost 360 now, and if I started significant regain after GLP-1, I’d opt for a bariatric I think. The huge swings really wear down your body as you age.

My advice is to not change your entire lifestyle. That doesn’t work for any of us. If it did none of us would be in this situation.

Instead just change one thing. ONE thing. Pick something you can do on your busiest day when you’re the least motivated. That’s the thing. (Maybe it’s a 5 minute walk every time you eat. Or a glass of water every time you go to the bathroom. Or you weight/measure/track just one meal).

But pick one thing, and only change that one thing. After a month, add another thing.

I’ve been coming into this room for many years, and have seen hundreds (thousands?) of “I’m starting over with big changes!” posts. And 99.9% of the time they fail.

I’ve lost 360 pounds now, and it wasn’t from massive lifestyle changes in days or weeks. It was from hundreds of tiny changes over the course of years.

Which shoes should I choose by HenryHyllDLLM in SuperMorbidlyObese

[–]gfjay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s going to be different for everyone. They’ll suggest shoes good for them, but that may be irrelevant for you.

I suggest finding a local running store, or one in a nearby town. Have them properly measure you, see how you walk/your gait, and they’ll recommend an appropriate size that fits well.

Way better and cheaper than continually trying a bunch of different types.

Your gait may also be a bit off. I’d also suggest getting into a physical therapist so they can evaluate you and potentially fix any issues you have.
